Question about Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Cyberhome 1200 I recently tried to record some shows on DVR+R. Seemed to format fine, record fine, then I finalized the disc. Now I can't play the disc and it comes up with an "unknown disc" error message and will not play on other players. I tried recording to a DVR+RW and everything works fine. I did not finalize the disc as the instructions say you do not need to. Any idea why I'm getting the problem with +R's? I thought I'd try not finalizing the +R's and see what happens.

First the Dvr 1200 has hard ware failure in it the tray eject unit and the display is failed can fix in local service center.............................

Second your New DVR 1600 check the format of the dvd is it compactiable with format of the player and if face the same problem get it replaced as this is new player manual opening could lead no warranty on the player , it better to get it replaced ..

Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD

What format are you recording in?If the recorder is set for DVD +R, and your playback machine won't read the disc, you may need to record on a DVD-R, or a DVD +-R. Or vice-versa. Some DVDRW discs will record on one machine and won't play on another. The media are incompatible. Another problem - if you are copying a copy-protected disc, it might not play back either. Are you sure you are finalizing the disc? This process takes 4-5 minutes and requires two or three responses sometime.

My is a Cyberhome is a DVR 1200 DVD player

Try unplugging the unit from its power supply. Wait a few moments and then plug it back in. I have the same unit and that is what I have had to do. I am afraid that we have purchased junk. This machine "works" some of the time. It usually functions well as a player but fails on numerous occasions as a recorder.

Disc playing on another computer help

It sounds like you need a firmware update but it may be too late now that Cyberhome is out of business. I suggest you buy a better unit but if you have some unfinalized or unreadable discs you want to try and recover I have instructions on how to do that on a PC that may be of help.

Cyberhome DVR 1200 acting up; won't format new blank dvds; says no disk, etc

Cyberhome has gone out of business in the US. My DVR 1200 stopped working but I was able to repair some capacitors on the power supply to get it going again. You can find more support information about the 1200 and 1600 on these websites: or and search for Cyberhome.
