SOURCE: Hand wheel will turn backwards, but not forward

here is some troubleshooting
Download your manual.
manual

Ok I know that youve checked this, but I have to ask.
Pg 39
Check and make sure the reverse lever isnt engaged.

I'm looking at pg 27 and see you have a traditional bobbin casing (not a drop in) make sure your bobbin is wound well and the case is inserted correctly. (they are picky)
Change your needle make sure its in right and tight. (I have bent many a needle just slightly, and it causes huge issues with this particular type of bobbin casing)
Pg 35 gives a test for the bobbin tension. If your thread rolls, the tension is too loose, OR the case may have gotten damaged.

Lets see if this helped.
Good luck

SOURCE: Hand Wheel Won't Turn

The "Bobbin stopper" is in the incorrect position. It moves from side to side in a switch like motion. In one direction, it locks up the machine. That is, you can turn the wheele backwards, but not forward.. The bobbin stopper can be found in the book that cam with the machine. In our book, it is item #9.

Hand wheel stuck

Check to see if the needle is jammed into the fabric. Try pushing the REVERSE on the machine and give a little push to the hand wheel.

when you have a machine jam up there is something wrong with the parts
inside, only a sewing machine shop can tell more after they check the machine.

The wheel that lowers the needle will not move forward, it will move in reverse to some extent. I have rethreaded , and pulled out the bobbin casing and no change.

Do not turn your wheel to the rear! You will mess up the timing. You have thread or cloth caught in the bobbin area. Clean your machine as per your manual.

My singer simple keeps jamming. I know the thread is caught underneath, near the bobbin but I can't turn the hand wheel either way.

Is your needle position high enough that you can remove the needle, and then maybe use a straight pin or tweezers to pull out the thread?
If needle is down try loosening the screw that holds it in and see if you can push it down into the casing enough to clear it for removal. good luck

How do i thread this? need visual guide please. i can hear something moving, but pedal isn't going up/down.

The "pedal" is the foot pedal and it powers the machine and does not go up and down.

The needle and needle bar go up and down.

If there is a smaller wheel in the center of the handwheel (wheel on the right side of the sewing machine), make sure it is tight. Turn to the right (toward the back of the machine).

You can find threading, bobbin winding instructions and a manual at the Singer Company website.

Needle jams and breaks off

Needle jams....Thread is caught in the hook...solution...Remove the upper thread and bobbin case, turn the handwheel backwards and forwards by hand and remove the thread remands.

Needles breaks
1. Needles is damaged..Insert new needle
2. The needle is not correctly inserted....insert flat side towards the back
3. Wrong needle size for the fabric...Choose a needle to suit the thread and fabric.
