Is your regulator OK? sounds like not enough gas pressure getting to the burners.

I have a brand new Weber 670S and put it together....the ignition will fire and I get a 6 inch flame, but the burners don't light....and the flame goes out when I release the knob...

Since the main burners and the rear infrared burner (if so equipped) comes already installed, I don't think your assembling it is the problem. It's probably the grill's gas regulator that is giving you the problem. That's assuming you are following the manual's instructions on how to light the burners, the first time. For now, Ill assume you did. If you open the gas tank valve to fast, it shoots high pressure to the regulator & locks it up.

So, to solve the problem, follow the directions below:

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly (It's 's not under warranty). It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling!! And thanks for choosing FixYa.

My weber grill (silver) does not get very hot after I open the top to do anything on the grill. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Dave Hendron

First, consider how long you preheat the grill and to what temperature are you preheating? If it's not long enough to reach at least 350 degrees, before you open the hood to start grilling. You're not allowing the grill to preheat long enough.

Second: Have you looked at the flame height on each burner when they're turned to the highest setting? It may be that the burners need to be removed and properly cleaned. In addition, the venturi valve on each burner may be partially clogged with spiders or spider webs. When that happens, the burners do get the right air to gas mixture/ratio and the burners don't fully light and heat up.

If the burner flames remain lower than they should, the grills regulator may be locked up. In which case, turn the tank valve OFF, disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to high. Does the flame height now, appear to be normal? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same way. The flame height on all should be the same on the highest setting. If they don't you'll need to replace the grills regulator/hose assembly. You can purchase one at just about any home center or hardware store that sells grills and grill accessories. Just take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

Any or all of the above should solve your problem. Please let me know and if you have any questions, don't fail to ask.

I have a stainless steel Kenmore propane grill, model 119.16311800. It has four burners and a side burner on the left. It is two years old and has performed perfectly for two years. I am now having...

With all the you described, your best bet is to replace the grill hose/regulator assembly. It's not expensive and it's not difficult to do. You can find the hose/regulator assembly at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills. The assembly is universal, but take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

As far as replacing the burners are concerned, that's not difficult either. And you may be able to find the replacement burners at www.sureheat.com , as they made the Kenmore grills for Sears. And yes, the scenario you gave for removing the burners is correct.

Hope this helped you and you will be kind enough to give my response to you, a positive rating.

Happy Grilling!

I don't know how old your grill is, but as grills age, the gas ports in the burners begind to clog and corrode. Flame travesl around the burners like dominoes when you stand them up and knock them down, one port lights the next, etc. All burners light on just one side and there are ports that are designed to take the gas from the outside of the burner to the inside and from one side to another. Depending on how clogged the ports are, you can clear them using a straightened paper clip, or a drill with a bit. Be careful not to make the gas ports larger.

Charcoal and grease build up can restrict even the best gas burners , my suggestion is to clean your gas burners with a burner tip tool . You can purchase these at Lowes or Menards . Here is a website for you to visit to get the ideal . http://www.metaltech.com.sa/victor/tips.htm

The first burner seems to burn very low and not very hot

Hello,
If it was me, I would, first try to clean them and see if that improves the flames. During the course of cleaning you can determine if the burners are corroded and needing replacement or just caked up and dirty. Are the burners stainless steel or cast iron? Cast iron lasts longer, and tends to get smaller in flames when it's seams corrode shut. Plus it is easier to clean. Stainless steel tends to corrode and fall apart, causing flare ups and unsafe use. The newer type tank has an anti tip safety device. It gets all boo boo'd when the grill is moved around. Remove the tank. Open the valves on the grill and close them back. Re install the tank and slowly open the valve.

Do you have enough gas pressure coming out of the regulator and gas valve? You'll need a pressure guage for this.

If yes, try taking out the burners and cleaning them with a wire brush, especially the flame spreading sections.
