Make sure the pilot knob is turned from "pilot" to "ON" or it will never run.
If the pilot knob is "ON", and the pilot is lit, but the burner won't light, it could be a bad Thermopile. The thermopile is the other safety mechanism in the pilot assembly that controls the burner.
First clean out pilot light with can of air , or blow down it with a tude. Then brush electrode clean with a clean paint brush ,chech to see if electrode is in the right postion to light the gas not too far away and the spark is strong , Clean thermopile head if fitted, then check thermocuople /thermopile connections are tight . see if this helps .
Open the glass front. Take a piece of fine steel wool and clean the little metal ends where the flames ignite. Sometimes they just get gummed up. It prevents enough flow from getting through to maintain a flame.
could be thermocuple or pilot blocked clean pilot then try make sure you are turning to on and not back to off i was doing this the other day some go clockwise some anticlockwise
Hi , you can try and pull the panel on the bottom of fireplace out and check the adapter in fireplace. Sometimes they go bad. When you open in also check to see if there is an adapter plugged in and a option to use the battery operated function. If this goes bad the pilot will not stay lit.
Relighting Your Furnace's Pilot Light
-
Turn off the gas at the main valve at your utility box
-
Wait five to ten minutes for gas fumes to waft away
-
Get a long match—yes, a fireplace match, not a standard match
-
Set the gas valve on your furnace to "pilot"
-
Press the red button as you hold the match to the pilot valve
-
Keep pressing the red button for 30-60 seconds so the pilot can heat the
thermocouple. Release the button and see if the pilot remains lit
-
If pilot goes out, wait five to ten minutes and repeat the process
-
Once the pilot stays lit, turn the main gas valve back on
-
If the pilot light continues to go out, call a technician, who may need
to adjust or replace your thermocouple or adjust your pilot
