Do you use generic carts? It could be that the generic ink has clogged the filter in side the printhead.
Do run the machine with original ink carts and try the following:
Press menu then start mono then four times arrow-up. machine will be in maintanance mode. press 7 then 6 then 3. Press start mono. Machine will do a power purge. Press 0 then 9 machine prints test sheet. You might do the power purge a 2nd time. Leave the maintanance mode by pressing 9 then 9.
If you do not have more black blocks the printhead is clogged and cant be fixed anymore!

When I print things, the words are faded and all of the letters aren't all there on the page. The letters all run together. Ive checked the ink cartridges and aligned them. Tried to change the font to...

There are two posible reasons for that: 1.Your ink cartridges has run almost out of ink. 2.The ink cartridges head has gone dry or durty. The best you can do is to buy yourself a new ink cartridges.

Hello'' can you tell me how to change the ink in the kodak printer?

  1. Open up the cartridge to reach the ink chamber within. For color and photo cartridges, just remove the lid with a sharp knife (insert it where the black and colored plastic meet) to find the three fill holes. On black cartridges, make a hole with a heated pin or drill on top of the cartridge where the letter "K" is.
  2. Step 2 Check the chambers in a color/photo cartridge to determine which color ink is in which chamber. Insert a different toothpick or pin into each chamber to draw out yellow, cyan or magenta ink.
  3. Step 3 Fill a plastic syringe bottle with enough ink in the color you are refilling. A black ink cartridge should need 10 to 15 milliliters. A color/photo cartridge takes 5 milliliters of each color.
  4. Step 4 Insert the syringe needle into the cartridge, sending the tip down to the bottom. The chamber contains a sponge, so you will need a small bit of force to push it in.
  5. Step 5 Inject the ink into the cartridge. Unlike other brands of cartridges, you want to saturate the sponge with ink in a Kodak cartridge. Depress the syringe plunger slowly until you can see the ink begin to surface on top of the sponge.
  6. Step 6 Wash all ink residue out of the syringe after you've refilled one shade of ink. If you intend to refill another color immediately, dry the syringe out first.
  7. Step 7 Replace the lid on a color/photo cartridge. Apply a strip of tape to the spot where you first removed the lid to secure it. You don't need to seal a hole you drilled in a black cartridge.
  8. Step 8 Leave the cartridge standing in a secure spot overnight. This helps the ink settle within the cartridge for even printing once the cartridge is back in the printer.

Cutting off lines and bottoms of letters

Try replacing the ink cartridge or putting tape on the cartridge where the ink comes out and rip it off so it doesnt block some of the printing.

On some lines the letters are cut in half and not lined up

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Prints only the top half of some lines.

Take the offending cartridge out and get a piece of tissue paper on your finger. Gently run the print head of the cartridge over the tissue paper. You shold see full lines of ink coming out. If not, the cartridge is out. If you see a full line of ink, reinsert the cartridge and do a clean cartridge from the tools menu
This should work
