This is an older unit and does not have GPS built in. It may have been purchased in 2000.

Follow these steps to get the optimal display on your JRC 1500:

SELECTING A RANGE
Press the J-DIAL until RANGE is highlighted in the upper right corner of the display. The range scale and range rings setting in use is shown in the upper left corner. Rotate the J-DIAL clockwise to increase the range and anti-clockwise to decrease it. The range rings are automatically set to correspond with this selection.

ADJUSTING RECEIVER SENSITIVITY
Press the J-DIAL until GAIN appears highlighted in the upper right corner of the display. Rotate the J-DIAL clockwise or counterclockwise, to vary the gain and thus control the strength of echo returns on the radar screen. An on-screen bar indicates the gain level selected. The proper setting is when the background noise is just visible on the screen. (i.e. a light speckled effect)

ADJUSTING TUNING
Press the J-DIAL until the TUNE appears highlighted at the upper right corner of the display. Rotate the J-DIAL clockwise or counterclockwise, to maximize the target echo. If there is no large, identifiable target (e.g. big ship or land) within range, select SEA CLUTTER and turn the control to maximum. Use these echoes from wave crests to adjust the tuning bar for fullest attainable deflection. This is best done with the range set to 3 nm or 6 nm. When the radar has warmed up, it may be necessary to make a further fine tune adjustment.

AUTO TUNE!
The RADAR 1500 MK2 has an automatic tuning feature. In this mode, the radar automatically tunes itself for best efficiency at all ranges.

Usually there is an option in the GPS programs which enables the users to mark the North direction at the top, search for it and try enabling/disabling the same.

JRC Radar Scanner when rotating is noisy inside the scanner base.

There is a seal on the antenna scanner shaft, just below the seal there are two bearings, thou the antenna are enclossed moisture still get inside and get to these bearings. Try and get a small amount of wd40 on the bearings, if not, you will soon begin to see false echoes on the screen because the motor on the scanner or antenna will begin to work harder causing a drag causing these echoes. Good luck.

Furuno 1942Mk2 Problem

it cannot determine a heading, have you also damaged an internal antenna or positioning / gps device inside it? It is unsure which direction it is pointing in but uses triangulation to determine this.

That requires either an electronic compass unit, or gps to achieve correct heading and hence correct orientation of the radar image

Raymarine 41xx - Message "bearing pulse error"

More than likely your motor is going bad. Inside the motor is your bearing pulse generator. Replace the motor and you should be ok.
