Check that the memory is not full. Also, make sure a setting like (auto-dial 9 for outside line) is set incorrectly.

No dial tone, shows line in use when reciever picked up.

Plug another phone into the telephone socket that your fax plugs into if there is no tone it's your line. Otherwise, your telephone cable could be plugged into the wrong hole if there are more than one hole available. Hopefully it's nothing serious and most probably the line or wrong connection point as I said.

Plug a regular phone into the wall jack to verify a dial tone. Make sure the phone line is plugged into the LINE port of the fax.

To send a fax you do not need to enter anything into your fax. You have to make sure that you connect the telephone line to it's desgnated connector. You dial a number to send as if you are calling form a normal phone. If you ever get a ringing tone press start. You can enter any data trough the data registration after you make sure your fax is functioning properly.

Sending and receiving problems

Where the telephone line comes in from the wall, make sure that it is plugged in the "line" or "wall" port. There is probably another port call "tel" or "acc". If the line is plugged into that port you will still get a dial tone but you are not connected to the fax's modem. You hope that's it. Ed
