Question about Bernina Sewing Machines

1 Answer

Aurora 430 Bernina

I have a new Aurora 430 Bernina machine. Today when I switched it on, it showed on the screen under the stitch selection the letters NO and a sort of rectangular shaped darning symbol, and it does not sew. Does anybody know what that means, and what I can do?

Hi, possibly your feedogs are dropped and in the darning position and/or its thinking you want to embroider and there is NO hoop attached or entire embroidery unit plugged in. Check your feedog button below the handwheel on the bottom.

I cannot get the green decorative stitches to work. I'm insure if my Bernina 930 is broken or I'm just unfamiliar with this machine. How do I set my machine for the embroidery stitches?

There are 2 levers on the top that need to be set. One shows the green stitch selections. That needs to be set to your stitch choice. To its right, there is another lever called the "changeover lever." It needs to be pushed all the toward the back of the machine--that switches it from straight stitch to decorative stitch.

Then on the bottom front on the right is a large knob. Both the outer ring of the knob and the inner knob perform different functions. One drops the feed dogs for darning or raises to activate the feed dogs to pull the fabric through the machine. The other part switches between the red and green stitch selections. When that knob is turned the light should show green or red to coordinate with the stitch selection lever on the top of the machine.

So to make decorative stitches, there are 2 levers that need to be moved plus the red/green activator knob. In addition, you will want to adjust the stitch width dial and the stitch length lever to widen or lengthen the stitch.

My Bernina 830 will not switch stitches. It says the number but shows straight stitch and sews straight stitch

Is it a new 830 computerized model or the older 830 Record mechanical?

If it is the 830 Record, it needs oiling--1-2 drops of good quality sewing machine oil (specifically concentrate on the stitch selector lever and oil the metal parts that move against other metal parts) Do NOT oil the cams, plastic gears, any rubber parts, ie belts, bobbin winder wheel.

Probably too thick to feed without dislodging the bobbin case, causing the error message.

New Bernina B580 constantly shows the bobbie is out of thread while stitching a design. How can this be solved?

It could be that the thread sensor is dirty or defective. Be sure to thoroughly clean, and if you can locate the thread sensor, make sure it is clear of any lint, dust, or even finger prints.

If it continues, take it back and ask the technician to make it right. It's a brand new machine and you shouldn't have to endure this kind of frustration.

Bernina activa 210 won't zigzag and has bobbin issues on straight stitch

it's very possible that the machine is slightly out of time & needs to be service at a sewing machine shop
is the fabric & thread & needle compatable with each other?
did you use every thread guide when threading the machine?
is the bobbin in correctly?
is the bobbin warped?

Had my aurora 3 days sewed on it today.. just straight stitching i hear a ping then the screen starts to flash then its smoking...why??

Call the dealer who sold it to you. It is a barbequed board. That's what your warranty covers.

I figured out the solution for this issue. It all has to do with the threading. And I mean literally follow the instructions word for word. Most importantly is the Bobbin thread. make sure to thread the bobbin through the case eyelet.
