My washer has suddenly developed a problem with agitating and spinning. It still does both of them - sometimes. Is this the clutch, or could it be something else?
Model #? Clutch has nothing to do with spin on older direct drive models Most likely a motor or timer problem.
Testimonial: "Thank you. It's a 90 series. After doing further digging, I did wonder whether it might be the timer."
SOURCE: Direct Drive Kenmore Washing Machine will not spin
its possible the ears on the top of the drive tube have worn alowing the basket drive block to slip and not turn the clothes basket with authority, or the basket drive block has just worn from overloading and needs replacing.. is easy to verify by looking..
best of luck,

look at the bottom of the control panel on the end caps and back out the two screws then pull the control panel slightly forward and tilt it back then you should see gray wires either going in the body of the washer or to a switch on the left side un plug the harness and put a jumper wire across the connector going to the control panel then try spin
