What model laptop do you have?

I know some laptops come with a Power Management utility which controls various profiles. If your computer is setup with a certain profile maybe this is what is causing your computer to change settings everytime you reboot.

You may also be able to change this setting in the BIOS. Check there for any trackpad settings.

How do I fix cursor. When I use my cursor some times it want respond to the location I need it to go.How can I fix it?

Instructions
    • 1 Close all application windows and restart the laptop. This will shut down any background processes that might be affecting your cursor. Rebooting often remedies cursor skipping problems.
    • 2 Run antivirus software to confirm that your misbehaving cursor is not caused by malware. If the cursor has changed to an unfamiliar shape without you initiating the change, your system could be infected by a virus or you might have installed unstable software. Run an antivirus scan and remove suspicious files and programs from your laptop.
    • 3 Adjust your touchpad's settings. In Windows, open "Control Panel," click on "Mouse" and then click "Tapping." On a Mac, access "Trackpad" and "System Preferences." Lower the tracking speed or sensitivity so that if you are accidentally touching the touchpad while typing, you are less likely to cause the cursor to skip. Save your new settings.

No expert, but I think here the safety shut off works much much more broadly than just dangerous overheating, possibly to avoid all physical harm lawsuits for anything imaginable. The reason could be any glitch, anything that affects the unimpeded speed of the blades, any maladjustment of the seated load. If the resetting takes hours something is definitely too sensitive or on the verge of crashing the safety alert again. Or this unadvertised extra sensitivity is a faulty device set way beyond specs or just plain broke.

How do I manage the mouse pad sensativity on my VIAO notebok computer

Hi,
You should be able to manage the touchpad (mouse pad) settings by going in to control panel --> Touchpad.(or "Dell Touchpad"). There you would find the touchpad settings where you could adjust the sensitivity for the touchpad.
Please let me know if you face issues finding the settings.
Thanks.

AMD Athon XP 2600 dropped speed

Some times when a computer shuts down unexspectedly like that it will reset itself back to its defaults in bios thinking there was a problem. Go in there and check your cpu settings. The fsb should be set to 266 mhz. Make sure it didnt default back to 133 mhz.

And FYI the 2600 is acutally a 2.13 gig cpu not a 2.6 gig..

Can not save to bios

windows and the bios needs to know that the operating system can be shut down through windows, so when you go into the F2 or Del on boot up, go into advanced cmos setings and look for ACPI and make sure it is enabled. This sets the motherboard to support shutdown. Save and exit settings and reboot. Now go to control panel>performance and maintanance>power options and set the correct instruction for shutdown to shut the pc down. Remember evertime you remove the cmos battery or reset with jumpers you have to reset date and time and anything else you have changed to suit your set up
