Question about Sony DVP-NC85H Multi-disc DVD Player
When we try to eject a disc the tray refuses to open and displays the message "locked". We have turned the unit off and on, unplugged it for an hour and activated and de-activated the parental password. Three new DVDs are being held hostage.
Is there any way to manually open the tray without breaking the unit?
Look on the bottom of the unit. There is a hole with the letters ex and op. Shine a light in the hole and you will see a white plastic object with a slot for a slot screwdriver. You can turn this either way but be careful. If you feel resistance and the object does not turn, turn the other direction and the unit will open. Remember if the disc loaded the clamping of the disc is in place so you must turn it the proper way to let the current disc loose hence the op and the ex. Op is open. Ex is exchange.

Try to hold the machine vertically, with the tray facing the floor directly and press eject, if that don't worked when pressing the eject button , try to pull it open with a knive or flat piece of metal, of course, the latter might scratch the disc , so I suggest you go have a fixed by a experienced technician near by, shouldn't be that much, if the first method doesn't worked.
