I purchased 2 years subscription regarding Norton Internet Security 2008 in January 2008, invoice number 1844266717. Why do I get a reminder to renew my subscription in 20 or so days or lose the benefits? John Roberts [email protected]

You need to activate your Norton program with the product key or the renewal code that you purchased for an year.
To enter the renewal code or the serial, please open your Norton product and click on the "RENEW" or "ACTIVATE" or "SUBSCRIBE" button on the bottom of your product and enter it there to activate your one year subscription.
Pro-tip: don't use Norton. It's system hog and expensive. Better to use a free antivrus and spyware monitoring program. There's lots available at filehippo.com. I'd recommend AVG antivirus.
This is an issue that frequently comes up. Please make sure that you have your product key from your new subscription stored (the MyNorton account is a useful place to store the data since you can cut and paste the number into Norton IS).
First check if NIS 2009 has your correct subscription information. Start the program, click on Help and Support > Subscription Status. Click Finish when that window finishes its activity.
If it is still confused, my solution is to update to Norton Internet Security 2010 (no cost to you).
One way to do this is through the Norton Update Center: http://updatecenter.norton.com/?NUCLANG=en
The other is to use the Norton Removal Tool: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe After the product removes all trace of any Norton product and rebooting your computer, if you have a good internet connection, it will lead you through downloading and installing the updated product. I recommend the Removal Tool since frequently the error you report is due to NIS not correctly updating the registry when the new subscription is updated.
Email Norton and tell them your situation, they will tell you what to do to fix the problem seems like a problem that's more there doing than yours. Or
Start your Norton product.
Do one of the following depending on your Norton product:
For Norton 360: Click My Account, and in the My Account window, click Renew Subscription.
For Norton 2009 products: At the top right corner of the window, click Help & Support > Subscription Status. Skip to Step 6.
For Norton 2008 products: In the bottom-left corner, click Subscription.
For Norton 2007 products: On the product tab, click Support, and then click Subscription.
For Norton 2006 products: On the Help & Support menu, click Subscription.
Click I have already purchased a subscription, check my subscription status.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Your Norton product checks your subscription status. This could take a minute or two.
Read the information in the Status check panel, and then click Finish.
Your subscription expiration date should now be correct.
If this helps you out, feel free to leave positive feedback. Thanks for stopping at Fixya !
Most of the Norton antivirus comes with one year subscription. date u mentioned here seems like more then 1 year old. That's why it says expired
If you dont want to spend any more money on antivirus then uninstall this one and download AVG from this site. this is really good antivirus for free and good for ever.
