Time for a new fax machine. The system by which your toner is applied to the paper is necessarily heat intensive (hence the warm pages when they come out) but when it starts to scorch the page fixing it is usually more expensive than replacing.

Is there a way to clean a Sharp fax machine? Unsure of model # as i am at home and it is at work. Persons receiving faxes have a dark, 1 1/2 inch wide line along left side of fax so unreadable.

YOU HAVE PROBABLY GOT TIPPEX ON SCANNER. TRACE PAPER PATH TO SCANNER AND CLEAN IT WITH SOME METHS. DO NOT SCRATCH OR IT WILL SHOW FOREVER. SCANNER IS ALWAYS THE FIRST THING PAPER GOES INTO AFTER IT STARTS TO MOVE. IT LOOKS LIKE A LONG PIECE OF GLASS.

What does COM-E mean when we try to send fax's and the transmissions has this written on it instead of OK.

It means "Communication Error".
The result might be twofold:
- the fax didn't reach it's destination because of communications error (any kind)
- the fax did reach it's destination, but part of it may be unreadable or distorted, or some pages of a multi-page fax did not go through.
In many cases, what the device perceives as an erroneous transmission, is perfectly readable by a human. Therefore it's good to call the recipient and ask if the fax is readable and if all the pages were received.

Non-stop printing with unreadable characters

hi Glenda, unplug the unit from it's power source, take out all the paper and leave it for about a hourplug it back in and try to run through setup again, it sounds like to me that your memory is either full, or got a "powersurge", like thunderstorm, power outage, etc if it starts acting up right off the bat then push the stop/reset button, you can either hold it down and count to ten, or push it quickly a couple of times, it should reset one of these ways, if it does remember which way in the event the power goes out again, clear the memory, and it should be alright, please let me know if this solved your problem, may god bless and happy 4th

Black streaks on prints

Where the original page that you wish scanned/faxed there will be a device called a "scan part". This device "reads" the paper to be faxed/scanned as it passes. It usually is found very near where the paper to be faxed goes in.
If there is a spec of debris on this part it will cause a fine line straight down the document. If its dirty, the document will be too! Just give it a good cleaning and you should be fine.

Canon fax-B840 - Print is "stripey"

No not yet,the problem is the cartridge, sometimes even new cartridges might have a dry printhead
Remove you cartridge, put the printhead side in about 5mm of hot water and keep it there for 5 minutes, take it out and do head cleanning again.
