I have an HP LaserJet P1006 printer. I am getting an error message "door open." It will not print.

    Thank you so much for your help!! I did try your suggestions, but it remains broken.

    I did, however, call the number you gave me, and they are going to send me a free, replacement printer!!! I never believed they would do that! Thanks again for your help--I appreciate it!!

    Yes, the solution was very helpful--he gave me a number for HP and they are going to replace my printer for free!!
    He also spoke in lay language, which I appreciate very much!

Hello there, sorry to hear about your trouble with the printer. It sounds like the sensor for the door / access flap is acting up. The first thing you will want to do is to open and close the access door a few times to see if you can get it to reactivate. This access door is on the top of this printer and it may have been bumped or dislodged somehow, so opening and closing it may take care of the issue.

If it doesn't, then make sure the panel is in the closed, regular operating position. Then go ahead and power down the printer. Once it is off, go ahead and UNPLUG the power from the actual printer, either at the back of the printer or from the wall / power strip. Leave it unplugged for a good 2 minutes at least, then plug it back in. Power up the printer and check if the message has gone away. If it has not then the actual sensor on the printer door has failed or is severely malfunctioning. You will need to give HP a call to find out if it is still under warranty, if it is this is definitely covered. Their number is 800-474-6836

Yes. I just got mine working last night. Key is to enable print services for windows through the control panel. Without that LPR printing does not work.

Title printer replacement.How can I remove and replace it?


to remove the cartridge all you need to do is open the main door for the printer, pull the cartridge out, take the new one, pull on the tape, shake it and put it back in. That info is also included when you buya toner cartridge.

to print envoleps u must first change the printing settings
in the settings u can see the envelop print choose tat

Hp laserjet p1006 printing jobs gets struck in printing queue


I know this problems in my part it was the hp driver.
My Solution is to use an compatible driver.
HP Laserjet 5 / or 6 standard windows driver.
After that i have not this problems.
The secound problem is that this printer have very less memory and big pages in a few times are not able to print.
