This is called the dropout. It depends on what material the frame is. If steel, a bike builder will be able to braze a new one on. If aluminium, this is still possible, but specialist bike builder or aluminium welder needed. If carbon fibre, need to take back to manufacturer.

Remove front tire on lawn mower

Jill,

If the tire has a hole have you considered a Plug?

If thats not an option before you can pull the tire off, there should be a small snap ring holding it in place. please use blocks to block the tires and do the following.
  • Park the lawn mower on a level surface, then place the wheel chocks in front and behind the rear tires.
  • 2Place the jack under the frame at the front of the mower. Raise the mower up and place the jack stands under each side of the frame. Lower the jack until the mower frame sits firmly on the jack stands
  • 3Remove the plastic cap in the center of the wheel by hand; this should expose the snap ring holding the wheel to the axle.
  • 4Pry the snap ring off the axle with the flathead screwdriver. Slide off the washer, wheel and the shim washers from the axle.

To replace tire follow steps 3 and 4 in reverse order. place shim washers back on and then wheel and then snap ring, etc...

    hope this helps

I took the pegs off my son's mongoose outer liit freestyle bike (20") and now cannot figure out how to put them back on. I am not sure what to do with the silver washer?????

The silver washer will go between the frame of the bike and the peg. Then the nut for the wheel bolt will go into the peg and screw on from the inside of the peg. Unless they are solid pegs in which case you will put the washer on first still and then screw the peg on as if it were the nut itself.

My rear tire is not turning when moving the pedals. The gears change but the tire is not spinning. I think it has to do with that plastic cover near the cogs, but not sure how its suppose to be.

Take the rear wheel off the ground (you could flip the bike upside-down to do this) and try to spin the pedals with your hand. Try spinning it backwards and forwards while you adjust the gears. ...If you adjust the gears while the chain is not spinning, the chain could get jammed. This could be your problem.
If that's not it, then try grabbing the wheel itself to see if you can spin it with your hand. If you cannot, then it might just be hitting the bicycle frame or the brake pads. See if you can find the spot where that is happening. If you can, then try to adjust the wheel in the frame by loosening the nuts or the quick-release lever (just push it away from the frame) that holds the wheel on to the bicycle frame... then wiggle the wheel around just a little to see if you can align it so that it is no longer hitting anything. Be sure to either tighten the nuts or push the quick-release lever back towards the frame when you are done. (Don't wiggle it too much unless you want the wheel to come out of the frame!)
If neither of these things work, you probably need to take it in to a bike shop. Most shops will give you a free estimate- they should tell you what is wrong, as well as how much it would cost to fix it.

My bike got crushed by the garage door: back linear tektro bent to side and wheel spokes broke, wheel looks bent. Is this a costly repair? Ladies wildwood. Thank-you.

What's the whole bike cost? Normally every part of the bike except the frame is replaceable economically - which is subjective.

Tektro brakes or equivalent - cheap; wheel - probably cheaper than a rebuild; labor - unknown.

If the frame or the brake bosses are bent - fuhgetaboudit. Take it to a Bike Shop for evaluation. They can just hang new wheels on it and see how straight everything else is.

When installing the front wheel, the wheel is touching the frame. it is straight out of the box...suggestions?

It sounds like either a bent fork or a damaged wheel. To check the fork, rest the bike on a flat floor with no front wheel in, the handlebars should be in the normal position for going straight (right angles to frame), if the bike sits level, then the fork is ok.

To check the wheel, hold the hub and spin it a bit, you should see a big whobble if it is that damaged.

If it is just the wheel, you can take that back to the shop, otherwise you will have to bring the bike back, sadly.

    Hope that helps.

I have this Schwinn Trailblazer Bike Trailer and Stroller. It is wonderful. However there is a strap that is bolted on to the main frame and to the spring end that connects to the bike hitch. My husband is...

This particular strap is a safety backup strap. This strap is just for in case that the first one securing the trailer to the bike breaks so it will still stay connected to your bike.

If the gears will no longer go back on the bike, I would recommend buying a new wheel (including a new rear hub). It is usually easier and more cost effective to buy a wheel than to replace the hub. To replace the hub (the part that is stripped on your bike) you would also have to remove and replace spokes, etc. Search online for the wheel size you need (probably 26" - you can check the tire size) or take to a reliable bicycle shop and they will gladly help you. Anyway, you need a new hub but probably better off getting a new wheel - much easier.

    Bell stroller left back wheel

I have same problem... I took the main bolt out that holds the plastic pieces to the metal frame, that holds the wheel assembly on that side. I pulled it off and found that the aluminum frame had actually ripped, broke a metal section off under the plastic area... Looks like the frame would have to be re-welded to function again... Take that area of your wheel apart, and see what is hiding beneath the plastic covering... Good Luck...
