Canon image runner 1600,I replaced the toner as it was asking (replace toner soon), with a new proper toner and the copies are coming out very light. I have to up the copier to the darkest setting to get them legible. I have only replaced the toner once before and have probably only copied 150 pages on this new toner. If I had to replace the drum, it would tell me but it doesn't. What is my problem?

There are a few things to check, first check in additional functions-ajustments/cleanings-exposure calibration and make sure it is set to the middle of the bar. next I would pull the drum and put it back just to make sure the connection is seated. If possible try to jam your machine when the page is at the drum (just open the door) if the image on the drum is dark then its a transfer problem if it is light it could be a number of things. Assuming it is dark, there is a connector for the transfer roller that is just below the drum towards the front of the machine. this can get stuck in a down position causing the transfer to be weak. hope this helps.

Ir 6570 copy light

When you were replacing the drum did you tuch the drum surface?Best would be that you take some toner on piece of cloth, and polish the drum, while turning it in good direction, that the cleaning blade can clean it.After you must let it copy about 50 copies.

You can try to replace the whole drum unit cexv14, or clean the laser unit.

Also could it be that the toner unit, or toner cleaning blade are not properly distibutes the toner accross the developing/toner cylinder

Why are my copies coming out solid black, even though my exposure lamp is still working?

A couple of possibilities. Basically if your exposure lamp is coming on, the light is not getting all the way to the drum that is in the toner cartridge. It could be you have a mirror out of place. When the exposure lamp comes on, the light is reflected off the original and then off a series of mirrors until it gets to the drum. If one of the mirrirs has been knocked out of place, like due to a recent cleaning then that would cause black copies. The more common cause would be the drum protection "gate" that is on top of the toner cartridge is closed and thus blocking any light from getting to the drum. You can slide out the toner cartridge and look on top. There is a gate or panel that flips open to be able to see the drum. This gate must be opened when installing the toner. Also it is possible to have a bad cartridge but that rarely causes completely black copies.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

The machine acts like it's making a copy but nothing comes out. had trouble before but it corrected itself. not this time.

Is the machine just running? Either after turning it on or pressing the copy button? This usually means that the toner is very low and the machine is trying to add toner which it must do before it will actually make the copy. Let it run for a few minutes and see if the toner light comes on. This will look like a small stack of 6 dots. If this light comes on you will need to replace the toner cartridge.

After changing toner on my sharp, SF-2022 copy machine, the copies are coming out with black smudge marks across the paper? how/where should i clean?

This means the machine is over-toning ie using more toner than required caused by either improper toner or different brand of toner. The correct toner is sf 222T1. Replace developer and use the right toner and clean the drum and its blade. You may need to clean fuser rollers for cleaner copies.

No error message but copier light doesn't come or number of copies doesn't work

let it run eventually the toner lite will come on, sharp copiers will run an extended period trying to add toner to the developer. developer is 70% iron filings and 30% toner as it uses the toner it cycles more in to stay at the proper level.

Poor quality copies

Hi, this is most likely caused by a worn or faulty drum.

It will not copy after I emptied the waste container.

There really isn't enough information given to give a proper solution. This copier has the drum light come on steady or flashing to indicate the waste toner needs to be removed. I don't know if you're a technician or not but lay people have emptied the toner cartridge instead of removing the drum, removing the cap on top of the drum, emptying the waste toner , replacing the cap on the drum, then putting the drum back into the copier. I've never had a copier keep the drum light on after doing this.

Let me know if you need more help.

Gray lines on the copies

If the toner is low that would cause a problem. If the drum is damaged that would cause a problem too. If you have recently (past month) printed successfully than you might have issues with copy surface. Does the line come when using the auto feeder? Replace/ remove/reinstall the toner cartridge and clean the copy surface. Repost if this does not solve problem.
