Question about Samsung Televison & Video

Samsung HLP5674WX color went out

My Samsung HLP5674WX color went out, it now only displays black/whitepicture. At first there was a loud whining noise when the color wentout, that has since gone away but still no color.

I assume this has something to do with the color wheel...any ideas?

Side note, a couple months ago we replaced the lamp.

    Thanks for the advice Ian,
I have changed video sources, but no luck. I will try unplugging inputs and trying different sockets.

This happened suddenly when we turned the tv on, it made a pop noise and immediately began whining and displaying only black and white, which leads me to believe something is definitely broken.

Have you not inadvertently pressed S Video / S VHS or put it into RGB by mistake?? Try various inputs just in case it`s a bad socket. You can usually switch different sockets into different modes, It`s definitely worth checking these first. Is the scart lead in the back not loose?? It`s got nothing to do with the lamp or display, It sounds like a button may have been pressed or the uPC has thrown a wobbly. Try unplugging from the mains to reboot the set. I hope this is helpful. Ian

Is it possible to have only the red tint projector lamp replaced on 61" projector Samsung tv

No. This is a DLP TV. It gets it's color by a color wheel. If color seems to drift across screen or there is a loud-ish whining noise from back of TV that you can here clear across a room, then this color wheel may be bad. They wear out.

My Samsung HLN4365 tv made a loud popping noise then the picture went to black and white with a lot of interference in the screen. Also now makes a loud humming noise sometimes

You are likely to have developed a bad color wheel. Do a search on Ebay with your model number or Google the model number. This will give you a heads up if you get a TV tech to fix the set

Television began making a loud audio noise and the picture went purple

Does your TV make a "whining, whirling, clicking, or humming noise?" If the TV have the infamous blinking lights problem , it's most likely a problem with your color wheel. The Samsung BP96-00674A color wheels spin anywhere from 6,000 to 15,000 revolutions per minute (RPM’s)--It is one of the few consumable parts in your Samsung TV. The average life expectancy from our data logging shows the Samsung color wheels are fairly reliable with a MEAN average of 5-8 years. Its basically in charge of creating the colors .God bless you here;s how to take it out and replace it: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php

Samsung DLP HL-R4266W..no sound or picture. TV is completely dead

Assuming the noise is a high-pitched whine, then yes, it is the color wheel.  If the color wheel goes out, the TV will turn on for a while, then turn off when it can't establish color wheel sync.  The color wheel has to be in sync with the mirrors on the DLP, so if sync can't be established, the TV turns off.
You can order a new color wheel from Sears or partstore.com (among other places) and replace it yourself, if you are so inclined.

Your set has a defective color wheel. This is the noise you hear and why the set wont even come on now. The colors were bleeding because the color wheel was getting stuck and when you hit the set you unstuck it. You need to call a tech to put in a color wheel the part is about 100 dollars plus labor.

Samsung dlp

HLS4266W 43" dlp. In less than 1 yr whining grew worse, but did know what it was. Year passed with warranty and lamp went out. Replaced lamp. Worked for 3.5 hrs. Turned on next day and did not work. Got another lamp, but did not work. Figured out might be color wheel. Replaced it too. TV started up. Watched that night. Turned on next day, heard loud pop. Lamp never came on. Withdrew and reinstalled lamp a couple times to see if that worked. Did not. Currently, with new lamp and color wheel installed, lamp light blinks, but no lamp comes on. What now?
