Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook
When I start my HP Pavillion DV4000 - the screen is dark and a flashing cursor appears in the top left corner.
A friend helped run a systems check and it resulted in a "#2-07 Fail" message. I couldn't get beyond that point and the device still doesn't work.
Any ideas ?
That error indicates a hard drive problem. You probably have to replace the hard drive.

The blinking curser indicates searching for next instruction.so more than likely you are missing instruction data (win32 for instance) try to install fresh os or repair existing one.....
have os disk in drive ,rebooot , install from cd.

This is a known problem with certain HP and Compaq laptops. Check out the link below to see if you qualify for the free service enhancement program. The same thing happened to me and HP is sending me a postage paid box to mail my laptop to them and they are going to fix it and mail it back.

Hard drive probably ok . reinstall xp(os)
cd in drive ,startup ,boot from disk,install windows,delete partition,create partition,format partition install windows
