SOURCE: SLOW DSL Speed

You may try changing the channel on the router if it is a wireless connection problem, or if it is wired you may change the MTU of the router to 1492 and check if it will change the speed or not.

move the router closer to the computer. Or you can download a third party firmware, that will help with the wireless connection.

SOURCE: Can I use AT&T 2701HG-B 2W Wireless Gateway DSL

yes, you can use them together. they'll find each other at protocol layer 2 (bridge) and layer 3 (router),
and route packets appropriately. Check their manuals to make sure that their HTTP management page ip addresses are different - say 192.168.0.0 for one router and 192.168.1.1 for the other - so that you
can manage them separately without disconnecting them.
You'll want to manage them separately to assign them different wireless-N channels. Channel 6 is
the default, and allowing both to compete on the same channel is a bad idea - give each its own
wi-fi channel. There are 11 wireles 802.11n channels, labeled 1-11.

Diagram: DSL === AT&T 2701HG-B ---------- NetGear router --------------- desktop computer

Each link in the diagram above is an ethernet (802.3 10baseT) cable (except the DSL cable,
which is twisted pairs), and wireless devices can
hop onto the Internet by wirelessly connecting to either the AT&T 2701 or the NetGear router.

High speed dsl down load speed is supposed to be 3.0mbps download----.384kbps upload--but all i can get is .320kbps download speed---what is the problem?

this will depend on your internet connection whether wireless ethernet or dial up

When your ISP offers you a 1Mb connection, its megaBits not MegaBytes.

So for a rough guide of how MUCH you can download, divide by eight. i.e. 1Mb speed = 128KB of data.

So its normal for you to get 1.0-1.10 mbps download speed for the 10MBps connection that you have

you might need software if you want to speed your downloads up http://download.cnet.com/getgo-download-manager/3000-2071_4-10277023.html

hope this heps

Low connection speed

Hello, the 100Mbps connection is to your router and not to the Internet. that means you can copy with a speed of 100Mbps(theoretically) between computers in YOUR network. You can test your Internet speed on www.speedtest.net, choose a nearby test point. If you paying for 2mbps and only getting 0.15 I suggest that you contact your Internet Provider because its very low if you paying for 2mbps.

I am using 802.11b/g wireless lan. my signal

Hi,

Increasing signal may increase speed, but getting closer to the router would yeild the same result iif that is going to work. You would do it by going to the management page for your router, and adjusting the "antenna" or "signal" strength to maximum.

On a linksys the default ip for that page is 192.168.1.1, on other routhers you can look it up in the paperwork or on the manufacturers website.

Hope this helps!!
