have you tried cleaning the filter at the bottom. remove the front plateat the bottom and there is a small round plate at the left. this has a screw in it. when you have removed this you give it a twist. a bucketload of water and gunk will come out. i found about 60p in 5's but when it was all removed it started to work again

The most common reason for an E1 error on an LD dishwasher (that does not have a leak, including directly under the dishwasher) is the drain hose between the dishwasher and the drain does not have a rise in it between the DW and the drain. Either install a proper AirGar valve or attach the hose to the bottom of the counter top so that it raises 30" between the DW and the drain. When that raise does not exist, the laws of physics tell you that you WILL have a siphoning effect from the DW into the drain, causing the LG to report error code "E1", which is true because of the water leaving the DW during all the wash and drain cycles.

I had exactly the same problem. After removing the back panel, I checked the two wires that go into the thermostat, they came away with no problem (not a good thing). Both of the wires were very brittle. I restripped them back and put two new connectors on, the problem was solved. Sounds obvious but make sure you turn the power off!
