The F61 code is a DC error voltage on the speaker line.
Sounds like what is happening is the audio amplifier output IC (integrated circuit) is failing after the component gets hot. This is very common. Or their may be bad connections where the IC is soldered into the main board.
If you have the proper test equipment and soldering skills you could repair this yourself. I believe the IC will be number STK470-050A or STK470-090 for this model but check the one on the board to make sure. You can purchase theses parts from Radio Shack or various online websites. Note here - this IC is soldered to the printed circuit board (PCB) so unless you are mechanically competent I would not recommend trying to repair this system. You will also need a soldering iron, very small diameter solder, and a solder remover in order to remove the old IC. Also the back of the IC is covered is dielectric grease for cooling and signal noise reduction.
The IC is the most common problem with these stereo systems. I think heat is the biggest cause of these problems. These IC's can't take the heat and eventually fail. Let me know how this turns out.
