Try updating your antvirus software and then restart your system in safemode. Then scan your full scan your system in safe mode. That will help you in deleting any kind of virus affected in your system. Try ESET NOD 32 Antivirus its more effective than avira.
Possible that it was not loaded with the required software fo Apple ipods--the itunes.
If so you must download this software from apples site -itunes download , install in your PC and convert the required media files to be transfered to the Ipod.
The seonc possiblity is that the files are corrupt , maybe a virus infection.
Connect Ipod and use you PC virus scan to check and quarantine.
unless you used the same computer when downloaded music, then you should be able to delete. Otherwise, you need to sync new music. It will erase all of the other music that is in the shuffle. this really sux. i had that problem. Couldn't even keep the same music.
To get rid of the virus there are 2 ways. First is to format the ipod whilst it is connected to the pc. Second is to scan it with a good anti-virus like eset or kaspersky. The free one are good, but most of the times they don't prove to be efficient. You can also try to format it via disk management, but make sure the pc you are using is clean from virus and also have anti-virus on it with the latest update. After that take precaution not connect it with infected pc. Ok If you need any other help, you are most welcome. Cheers Uttam
When the executable is run on the victim's machine, the worm copies itself to the following locations:
%Application Data%\remove.exe (Copy of itself)
Where %Application Data% = c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data Autorun.inf has following command Exp: [autorun] shellExecute=remove.exe The worm adds a Run entry in registry so that it executes itself at every startup:
Method of InfectionMethod of Infection - This worm spreads by using autorun.inf on shared drives and removable devices. Removal - A combination of the latest DATs and the Engine will be able to detect and remove this threat. AVERT recommends users not to trust seemingly familiar or safe file icons, particularly when received via P2P clients, IRC, email or other media where users can share files.
What this will do is reset your computer back to factory defaults like you had just got it out of the box.
This would fix the problem for sure.
Of course you could also go here as well and download the win32.brontok removal tool.
This program will remove any instance of the worm on your computer and get rid of it.
This way you won't have to restore your computer back to factory defaults.
Maybe i shud start by explaining why most Ipods freeze or crash. When you unplug you ipod improperly this may and usually causes the itunes software to crush and stop functioning. The softwares corrupts and cant function. So you probably cant enjoy ua music. With the viruses in your computer its easily to infect your ipod since ipod is a mass storage device also. Some viruses have a way of freezing the itunes software.
When it comes to restoring your ipod you need a computer that is not infected with viruses. you need to format your ipod if it cant be restored directly from the internet. After the ipod is completely formated which means you have done away with the viruses/all the songs you can restore it with itunes.
But there is also a way of recovering songs from your ipod before formating or restoring since if you format you get to loose all ua files without recovering them.
But the biggest problem is when your ipod is not even recognized by your computer. But if your computer can recognize your ipod as a mass storage even if its not syncing your music, there is a possibility restore it to normacy. The only rist is loosing all your data, but with an expert you dont have to loose anything.
my friend got that last week to... ehat you need to do is download kaspersky. after running kaspersky. that will be gone.

if you want to manually delete it...
Solution is here:
1. Start Notepad [Start Menu-All Programs-Accessories-Notepad] or right-click any empty space in your desktop then select New-Text Document
2. Copy the following text. (note: Everything in between the square brackets should be in one line)
3. Save the file with a name (anything) like DisableAutoRun.reg (The extension .reg is the important part)
4. Double Click your newly created registry file. Choose yes or continue to the warning that will appear.
hope this helps
If the data on the iPod wasn't corrupted\deleted by the virus, you can use a program such as poddox to transfer the songs you have on there. If it has been deleted or otherwise corrupted, you can try using an undeletion program such as FreeUndelete but the chances that you get the music off the iPod are slim. Don't you have the music saved on your PC?
