Try cleaning the lens but chances are you have a bad laser that reads the information on the disk, one other thing to try is see if the disc is spinning or if it don't rotate

The player may not be able to read the type of disk; e.g., DVD-RW.
Try writing the disk as a Data disk.

SOURCE: No Disc

Hello Kenny,
My name is David thank you for using FixYa.com for your answer.

Sounds to me that the eye is dirty or even bad try to run a dvd cleaning disk
In your player you can get them in most all stores such as walmart etc...
try to run it in the machine if it is real dirty you may have to run it a few times
if that doesnt help you can try to do it manually by taking the cover off
your player and then opening the dvd compartment to expose the eye and clean it with a cue tip
and alcohol lightly dip the cue tip and clean the lense off I have had to do that with dvd players and old playstations in the past and it worked fine. try the disk first though before taking anything apart
good luck this should work for you.
Thank you again for choosing FixYa.com for all your answers and please feel free to rate me for the answer i have provided.

SOURCE: dvd player not loading

I openned mine up and found that the lens carrige was not in the fully retracted position. I pushed it all the way back to the back of the slide. Then I removed the two screws on either side of the spindle support so I could get to the lens. I hit the lens with some compressed air, plugged it in and loaded a disk and it worked like a champ. Listening to some Stevie Ray Vaughn right now!!! And going to watch some movies later. ;)

Good luck, I hope this helps someone.

SOURCE: disc loads, makes click click sound then message no disc

that click click is the laser trying to focus and it is hitting the disc.
the biggest failure is the disc motors.they are very tiny motors and if they do not spin fast enough, the laser can not get the info it needs.
sometimes banging on it lightly while it is focusing will get the disc to spin.
with the price of new ones,it is not worth repair.
that is why i got out of the repair biz in 1995

SOURCE: samsung DVD player when disc put in after trying

it can be two possibilities. 1)either the disk is faulty.check out in another player or drive and confirm whether the disk is properly working. 2)or the lens in the drive which reads the disk is either faulty or got dusty.in the electronics shop you get lens cleaning cd.insert that in your drive and play it.it will spin for a period of time and stop.then insert your dvd disk and check out if the same problem.then drive inner lens is faulty and needs replacement.

Pioneer DVD 717 - Not Loading Discs Whenever I load a disc, the player spins the disc for a moment before slowing down. to a stop. It repeats this around four times in succession before it then opens...

Hi msaslloyd ,

This could be because of a damaged lens , where the dvd player tries to recognize the disc but is unable to do so and then either sends the disc back i.e. the tray opens up or the message no disc loaded is displayed.

I suggest you to :-

  1. Clean the lens with a lens cleaner available in the market and load any disc in the player to check if it's working fine.
  2. Get the lens replaced from the market and the problem should be solved.
Hope this helps ..:)

Says loading disc then no disc pops up and it just won't play. Tried the phillips lense cleaner still does same message (loading the no disc)

Hello,

The reason the player keeps loading and showing no disc is simply because the lens of the player is weak.

To fix this,

  1. Open the cover of the player with the appropriate screwdriver,
  2. Open the disc tray, you will see the lens, like a crystal or diamond like object,
  3. Replace the lens by removing it with the mechanism that supports it and fixing the new lens,
  4. Test it with a DVD disc.
  5. Cover the player back.
Take care

Loads cds. I can hear the loading mechanism operating, I get the 'read' message, but 10 seconds later comes the error message

either the cd you are trying to use is in the wrong format for that cd player or something is wrong with the eye in the cd player

No Valid Disc

I had tried cleaning the lens like most solutions said to do, with no luck. I tried what user gthumm said he/she tried, which was taking off the back of the player. Their problem was the white wheel (motor) and the next wheel (black) were not turning smoothly. He/she pushed the white wheel down until it snapped back in, allowing the wheels to turn. I tried it twice and finally, I have a working portable dvd player again! Yeah! Thank you so much gthumm and fix ya team! My kids especially thank you! You are the BEST!
