SOURCE: Briggs and Stratton Governor Linkage problem

The easiest thing for you to do is look at any 12.5-19hp Briggs single cylinder engine that's on just about any riding mower.. They all have the same set-up.

SOURCE: 2 springs that go on the governor and to the

The large spring goes on the loop on the link that connects the govenor and carby buterfly together, the other end goes to the metal tang that sits up and moves with the hand control this tang has a long "arm" that alows you to set the high RPM. the small one goes to the same loop but conected the other end to a tang sticking up that dosent move that is closer to the fan cowling. this one isnt critical as it only a dampener. start the engine run up at Full throtle and bend the tag to set max speed 3400RPM I hope this helps

the words are getting jumbled up as Ive been doing this for the last 2 hours...:)

SOURCE: pic/diagram of 10hp briggs & stratton governor,model 205412

on the governor arm itself,,,,there are a bunch of little holes drilled into the arm ,,,one end of the spring goes into usually the third hole from the shaft that the arm is hooked to,,another words the third hole away from the shaft,,,,then the other end of the spring goes to a stationary point to create a stationary base to the end of the spring for constant pressure..usually there is a deal sticking up for the spring to allow maximum movement of the spring without it touching anything.,,,hope it works,,,trial and error in this case is the best thing ,,hook it up WITHOUT stretching it too far,,if you stretch the spring to far then you WILL have to replace the spring!! be carefull on stretching it.

I need to know where the springs hook on the governor arm on a 445777-0129-E1 briggs 25hp v-twin

on the governor rod there should be a spring that gos around the rod and hooks on both ends of the rod .then theres a spring and its very important that it is the right tension spring,go to a dealer and have him look up the correct spring for that model once you get it the spring will accually make the governor sping the engine wide open till it starts but from the governor arm you should see a holder of some kind or a hole where a spring goes to,thats the best I can do for you without seeing it,the dealer where you get your spring may hae a diagram of it!

How to adjust the governor on 13.5 briggs & stratton intek engine?

First make sure the throttle lever is on full speed position then unloosen the bolt that holds the governor lever to the shaft which protrudes from the engine then with plyers turn the shaft the same direction that the spring pulls the governor lever until it stops then tighten the bolt the holds the governor lever to the shaft. Sometimes the governor shaft might have a screwdriver slot in it to turn it.

How to hook up governor spring and throttle linkage on a briggs and stratton 8hp

From the governor 'vane', on end with a small hole in it is for one end of the spring........the other end of the spring goes to the throttle arm on the carb. YOU MUST HAVE THE CORRECT SPRING WITH THE PROPER LENGTH AND TENSION!!!

Motor runs wide open when set @ slow speed

It could be that the governor spring has become disconnected or has broken on an end where it hooks onto the throttle linkage. If the spring is OK & throttle linkage is not binding it could mean the governor drive inside the engine has failed preventing the governor from operating correctly. You may need to take the engine to a mechanic to fix the problem.
