SOURCE: Communication with PC

Hi Monika

Issue can be related to driver. You can retain the PC Designer program. However you can reinstall the driver. You can go to Control Panel click on the system Icon then click on the hardware and device manager, Check is there any exclamation (!) or question (?) mark on any devices. try to locate Machine's driver and uninstall then reinstall. Please post for further assistance. Please indicate outcome of your diagnostic.

Good Luck

There are 3 main fixes for a freezing SE.
1> Have the latest 12501 update installed, the 12124 had a problem.
2> make sure you have the right hook (the 2 older hooks have this problem.
3> The newer tension assembly with the grounding strap needs to be in the SE as well.
4> there were only suppose to be 3 but if your screen gets weird when it freezes, it could be the video transformer

SOURCE: Designer 1 touch screen freezes

Static Electricity and Designer 1:
The designer 1 is susceptible to static electricity. They sell static removers for electronics. Try that 1st. Don’t spray your machine, just the rag and wipe the machine. Endust for electronics makes a pump spray and you can even use it on the screen (DONT spray the screen). Then try to recalibrate the screen in the set menu. If you can’t get into the set menu keep trying until you can otherwise, there is a way to get into the service mode to set it.

SOURCE: I recently purchased a Husqvarna

Sorry. Sounds like a dead LCD screen. It will have to be replaced by an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Be sure it is an authorized dealer. Check the Husqvarna Viking website for dealers close to you. Http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

SOURCE: Viking designer se screen is stuck in welcome

I purchased my designer se in 2006, and the frozen screen happened for the first time tonight as I was installing fonts on the machine. I did as suggested...got into update mode and installed the latest update and it worked! Thanks so much. I thought I would have to pay a lot of money to have the problem resolved. I am a happy DSE owner.

I have an Viking Designer SE Sewing/Embriodery machine and I just starting exploring Embroidery? My thumb drive won't show the designs on the Embroidery machine, but they are on the USB thumb drive.

Most newer USB drives are not compatible with the Designer SE. Only Husqvarna Embroidery USB Sticks are guaranteed to work with this sewing machine. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/827718/Husqvarna-Viking-Designer-Se.html?page=21 . The entire manual is available from https://www.husqvarnaviking.com/support/DESIGNER-SE . One tip: try making sure that the file is not inside a folder on the USB stick. (In File Explorer, you should open the drive and see the file in that first list/window. If you build the folders on the sewing machine, it's less likely to be a problem.)

Other USB sticks can sometimes work. However, you need to format the stick at the sewing machine before putting files on the USB stick at the computer. 2GB and larger USB sticks are the most likely to give problems. 32MB to 1GB sticks are more likely to work. Only one person found an 8GB USB stick would work with the Designer SE. Most new USB sticks are formatted with a NTFS format. The sewing machine may be looking for a FAT16 or FAT32 format. The other possibility is limited USB drivers on the sewing machine. (I've got an Ag GPS position system that won't accept any USB stick unless it is labeled as "Works with Windows 98". Those USB sticks didn't need the OS to download a driver from Windows Update when they were first plugged into the computer.)

I hope this helps.

(The Designer SE could talk directly to Windows XP or Vista via USB. However, the programming probably had more in common with Windows 98.)

Your screen may need to be replaced. Take it to a husqvarna dealer and see if you can get a free estimate.

Husqvarna designer 1 won't turn on..stitching had messed up and cleared out bundled thread and now screen won't light up.

If there is no noise, like the machine is calibrating or setting up, then more than likely the fuse on the transformer has blown. If the needle motor and feed motor make their usual noise and the lights come on but the screen won't come on, chances are a connection inside the machine is your problem. If the cable from the display screen becomes unplugged, the machine will "start up" but nothing will be displayed on the panel. If when you turn on the machine, you touch the screen and hear the "click" sound the screen makes then its a problem with the display screen only. (there are 2 screens, the one you touch your finger with is the touch screen and the one behind it displaying the picture is the display screen.)

My Designer 1 screen is blank.

Phone the technician who worked on your machine previously and tell him/her what has happened. It would appear that the repair was not done properly. Make sure they understand the inconvenience they have put you to and ask can they effect the repairs as quickly as possible.

I accidentally started sewing with wrong foot and needle hit the plate and broke. Machine won't sew

This is just a guess since I haven't seen exactly what's happening, but my guess is that the drive belt has come off. You can hear the motor running because the machine is attempting to bring the needle to it's fully up position. Since the machine isn't turning, the motor will run faster and faster until it hits full speed.

DESIGNER SE breaking needles

Sounds like the needle to hook gap needs to be adjusted, i.e. the needle is striking the hook when in the lower position. As the needle becomes dull, it probably bends slightly causing more contact and hence breaking. I would try another dealer if you think that might help., You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Good luck.
