Aspire 5520 has LCD Display. The
screen displays becomes dark/ dim if there is no backlight. There
are two parts responsible for lighting the display. First is the CCFL
(Cold Cathode Florecent Lamp), which is the back light and the second
is the Inverter board, which provides high voltage to the CCFL. These parts are inside the LCD screen. Either
of the parts may be faulty or in some rare cases both. Also, the video data cable may be loose or faulty, which can be identified only after opening the top cover. So,
my advice is that you get it properly checked by any professional for
replacement of Inverter or CCFL.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH
It is cause by a very serious virus called "Conflicker"
Try to Do a upgrade of 7 (Free upgrade from Microsoft).
The upgrade does not delete your files, it should detect and erase viruses and the startup is quicker. (22 secs on my Dell Inspiron 2200 with 512MB RAM!!!)
Currently, the only other solution is to do a complete re-install.
try to connect it to an external monitor to see if video card is working. if yes, the the internal card/lcd screen connector may have become loose or your screen is broke. you will have to remove some parts to check this. before doing so, get the manual(paper or download) first and look where all the little screws are. if you know someone who can repair PC's he might help out if you let him... it is a fiddly work but seeing a technician may be cost-intensive. PLease decide yourself...
Try Pressing the Fn key along with the F6 key in the top row. If that works, then the system probably went into auto lcd shutoff mode. It does this to conserve power. Let me know if this works first. Have a great day, martyshaw152
