Question about Numark ttUSB Turntable

1 Answer

Cannot convert to MP3

I have one of the first issues of this type of Vinyl to Computer turntable and have never been able to turn the files into MP3. I have looked on the Numark web site and can download software but I have been asked for a serial number which appears to start with 21. My serial number is possibly too old and therefore I can go no further. Any ideas?

Can you import the sound file or audio into your computer? If you can then you could get hold of software such as magix audio cleaning lab, which will procces and change it to MP3.

How do I transfer LPs to my iMac/iTunes Library

HARDWARE: You will need a turntable, a phono pre amp, and an analogue to digital converter.

SOFTWARE: You will need software on your computer to take the adigital data stream from the analogue to digital converter (probably via a USB cable) and transfer it into mp3 files on your computer, which can then be saved in iTunes or any other number of digital music platforms.

There are turntable solutions designed to do this. Some have all 3 hardware elements integrated into the turntable, and come with the necessary software on an included cd-rom. I have seen these kits for under $200. Not exactly audiophile grade turntables, mind you, but they will get that one off vinyl of grandpa's barbershop quartet preserved in the digital domain.

Good luck!

Got record and it is not loud. never had any problems with other vinyl records sound quality. I want the songs to be converted to MP3 but the sound on them is so flat. other records I have converted sound...

Hi, maybe the record is worn and that's why the sound is low. By using third party audio editing software (i.e. cool edit [paid] or audacity [free]) you can improve quality and volume of digital sound.

Resulting mp3 files are HUGE

Are you certain that you're recording in MP3 format? That large file size seems much like .wav files than .mp3 thing.

But if that's really .mp3 file, you may need to adjust the bit rate&sampling rate.Typically, 12 kbps and 44.1 KHz would be a good starting point.

And about shrinking files you've already done, try file convert software(s) around the web(try Google it).Too many of them to recommend here. But I personally use Wavepad Sound Editor for record, edit and save files in various format.
