Use the top button to adjust the current time & then push the bottom button once to save. Next is the time you want the lights to turn on & push bottom button once to save. The last setting is the time you want the lights to turn off. Don't forget to use the . (period) indicator for the pm setting. (I had the same problem and had to search the net to find someone else who had posted the instructions.)

1- Plug
in the timer.
2- Set
the time of the day (on the hour, example. 2. Pm) using the top TIME
button. For pm there will be a dot to
the lower right of the 6.
3- Once
the time is set push the MODE button, this will replace the 6pm with a flashing P.
4- Push
the TIME button again to set the time you want the timer to come on. (Remember
for 6pm there will be a dot to the
lower right of the 6.
5- Push
the MODE button once the desired time is set, an E will appear.
6- Push
the TIME button again to select the time you want the timer to go off (example 10.pm).
7- Push
the MODE Button again. The time of day 2. (Pm) will be displayed. If the timer loses power just repeat the above
steps.

To Set the Current Time: Press the HOUR button as many times as necessary to advance the display the correct time. Note, the time can only be set in 30 minute intervals. The LED display will display the hour (1-12) and on the half hour a light will illuminate in the upper right corner, next to the number 30. To change from AM to PM toggle 24 times, a dot will illuminate in the lower right corner of the display next to the letters PM.To Program the Timer: Press the PROGRAM button once, the letter P will flash. Press the HOUR button to set the ON time. Press the HOUR button to set the ON time. Press the PROGRAM button again, the letter E will flash. Press the HOUR button to set the OFF time. Press the PROGRAM button to exit program setting mode. Press the HOUR button to review the ON/OFF setting.To Connect/Operate the Timer: Plug device in to the timer and turn the device on.
To Revise the ON/OFF Setting: Unplug the timer and plug it back in. Repeat the programming steps above.
To Override the Timer: Press the PROGRAM button if you want the device to turn on before the preset time, but note the device will turn off at the preset time. For example, if the preset ON/OFF period is 3 pm - 4 pm, users can manually press PROGRAM to turn the device on at 2 PM, the timer will keep running until the preset off time at 4 pm.
