If you're not registered with a service provider they will block you as soon as they recognize the sim card. Sometimes it takes a little longer than others. It may be that the vodacom sim came with the tablet and had a trial period. One that 'trial' period expired the block it.

switch off your blackberry, remove the back cover and battery, and remove the sim card. Replace it after about one minute and it should not read SOS anymore. If it still reads SOS, insert your sim card into another cellphone to see if it also reads SOS in a different phone. If it does, you need to call the company you bought the sim card from. Eg; if it's an MTN sim card, call MTN; if it's Vodacom, call Vodacom etc.

Depending on the SIM card you put in choose the correct network (Vodacom SIM card would choose Vodacom) That fixed my problem hope it fixes yours bye!
