Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
My PS3 is telling me that it "succeeded" in obtaining my IP adress, but now its telling me that an error occured during communication with the server. This is a DNS error.(80710102).what is the problem?
Hi, i had the same problem but it was fixed by simply re directing my ISP's DNS settings away from Sony's. manually change your DNS settings to the ones below and it should work fine !

I solved this problem recently by restoring the system to default in this process i was worried about losing game data but that doesnt happen i then returned to my internet gaming. by just connecting to my internet :)

I had the same problem, then out of the blue it started to work. It worked for 3 months, now it is not working again. I never changed anything at all. I have the ps3 and the xbox 360 same IDNS error on both. I had the ps3 first so I thought it was the ps3. It is something to do with the computer.

I just spent 2 hours reading these solutions and trying all of them with no success then i decided to just unplugging the ps3 for 1 minute and turning the switch it has in back of the ps3 off and waiting another minute and when i turned ps3 on. boom signed right in. give that a try and hopefully you will have as much success as me

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Can you give a little more information about your configuration? Are you connected at all? Do you know what is going on? Does your car have an automatic transmission? Do you have people hooked to the underground chopshop network? Have you relocated through a time portal? If you have, did you tell sony the problems people are having in the future with there PS3s? Did they commit you into an asylum? Did you call sonys tech support hotline? The number is 1-800-345-7669. I hope they can help you without having to unanswer your questions with more questions like these. If they don't know, I would suggest smashing it with a hammer.

I had the same problem but rectified it like this ( windows XP):
open Control Panel and click on Networks Connections. Then click on your internet service provider connection. In 'general' click on 'properties' and then go to 'Advanced'. On the 'Internet connection sharing' tick 'Allow other network users to connect through this internet connection. In the same box click on 'settings' and tick 'DNS'.
I hope this helps.
