Is your primer button stiffing up when used or is it or does it remain sponge ? Or you may have something in the carb .Take the bowl off and clean it. Is your gas fresh or has it been sitting around awhile? Hope this helps you out.

My lawn tractor craftsman 14.5hp IC OHV B&S stalls approx. 5 mins after starting so I restart and it can stall in another 10-15 min again and so on.

you may have some debris in your gas tank blocking the pickup tube. It will float away when the mower dies, then block the tube after it runs again.

Why does yardworks 173cc bs engine will start, run, for 2-3 seconds then stop

Bad gas. Drain gas and refill with fresh gas with Stabil. Old oil. Drain oil fill with fresh 30w oil, 16-18oz. Clean air filter and spark plug.. Relpace air filter if dirty. Saving $$$ on this simple tune up is not intelligent.

Sears Craftsman mower 17hp Briggs & Stratton engine. Replaced starter, spark plug and fuel filter. Will not turn over unless jump started. When running has no power.

Charge battery to 12.8 volts or higher. 13.2 best. Below 12.8 volts replace battery. USE FRESH GAS ONLY. Always use Stabile in gas. Ensure oil is full. 30w. Clean or replace air filter.

Not getting any spark

Clean the Plug and replace the Seafoam gas with fresh. Althiough the Seafoam is a cleaning agent, it cuts back on the gasolines octane and it can slightly foul plugs.

Have a LT1000 starts fine and then stalls after a short run, I have clean fresh gas, new fuel filter, oil change, battery, and spark plugs

Hi,
There is a kill switch under the seat that makes sure you stay in the seat if the mower is running...my bet is that the switch is malfunctioning and the vibration of the motor is causing it to short out...get a new switch, they can't be that much...

My lawn mower srarts than dies its not out off gas or oil

There are a few popular solutions for your problem. You can try changing out the old gas completely, with new fresh gas, you can try changing the spark-plug and air-filter. You can try cleaning the carburator or replacing it if you find it is broken. And you can try removing the spark-plug wire and putting in-line, a spark tester. The ark should be blueish white Not dull orange or yellow. If the spark is insufficient then you can try removing the pull-string cover and lightly sand the magnet that is on the fly-wheel and passes by the ignition coil. Good-luck.

I have a Craftsman lawn tractor 21.5 hp, model no. 917.272463. The engine starts well, but while running it spits and sputters every second or so, whether at idle or at full throttle. I changed the fuel...

Try changing the its oil-seals. The problem lies there. It may be damaged or the oil-seals are now smaller than its is used to and it is because of the heat. The oil-seal are rounded things that are made of rubber.

My craftsman rotary lawnmower wort start i changed the spark plug

a mower will hold 20 oz of oil. however most times it is changed you do not not get it all out. so only 16 oz is needed. if you overfilled the oil. this would cause hard starting. or did you have the mower tipped on it's side for to long, oil can sometimes seep past the piston out thru your intake valve and into your carb as well as destroy you air filter. you might get by with a new oil change and a carb cleaning.

also has this unit been sitting for a while does it have fresh gas. and No water in the tank/carb
