My maytag side by side is making ice and dispensing water. However the door ice dispenser is not dispensing ice and it seems like the freezer is not defrosting the ice area as there is a build up of

dont think both issues are related? the for the freezing up problem you need to check with a multimeter ur defrost timer and ur defrost terminator or AKA defrost thermostat as for ur ice maker? there may be a thermostat or circuit gone bad?

What could the problem be; my refrigerator not cold but the freezer is freezing?

If your refrigerator freezer compartment is cold, but the refrigerator compartment is warm--It could be a defrost problem. When a defrost problem occurs, it is usually the fault of one or more of three basic parts: defrost timer/adaptive defrost control, freezer thermostat or the defrost heater element. This is the second time the freezer accumulates water and freezers at the bottom of the freezer section of the Admiral HMG67158, 26.6 cu ft freez/refrig. The coils behind the panel were completely frozen...

unplug unit, remove back panel inside freezer and manually defrost with hair dryer, sounds like you have a defrost problem, check defrost thermostat, defrost heater or defrost timer, defrosting with hair dryer will fix until it freezes up again

Freezer/refrigerator compressor running constantly

th ebi-metal is a thermostat which shuts the defrost heater on/off, but doesnt actually put the unit into defrost. if it were bad the defrost heater would never go on resulting in massive build up of ice on back wall of freezer, and noticable refrigeration sect. cooling.. dont know how you know the compressor never shuts down, but if that the case perhaps you have a sealed system/ freon issue. try removing the back panel of freezer section and check the evaporator coil. you shuld have an even frost pattern over the entire evap coil. if theres just frost over the top 1or 2 coils, and the rest of coil is shiny aluminum , thats an indication of a sealed system issue.( 5 year part warr by manufacture) def not a do it yourself issue...but that would,, depending on extent of restriction/loss of freon,, cause freezer to freeze and defrost eratically, and the compressor would be running constantly trying to achieve a good stable temp
