Alarm light on and u051 error mx310

I turn my printer on and get a check ink u051. I've taken the ink out several times and put it back in its still more than half full, i used it the other day and it was fine and now this is driving me crazy. Does anyone have a solution? i have a pixma mx310

    i have the same problem i always refil my carteges and make reset but thet time its dosent work i tary make reset again on the factory mode and its stck on idle
    i tary the other reset whit the cervice but didnt help
    i have 2 canons mx310 so i take from the other one the cartges and it didnt work to
    when i set the cartges on the other printer back now both of them have the same problem
    someone mayby can reslove thet besus too reset didnt help

Hi

You’ll need to reset your printer to clear the ink counters, after resetting it’ll not display the error code again. Follow this procedure to reset the printer--

1. Power off the printer.
2. Holding the stop/reset button, press and hold power button also. Hold both buttons together for 5 secs.
3. Still holding the power button, release the stop/reset buton, then press the stop/reset button twice.
4. Release power button (the screen should now say 'Service Mode').
5. Wait until the power button lights steady green, then press the stop/reset button three times with a 3 sec space between each press. On the 3rd press the indicator should turn steady orange.
6. Press the power button once, (the orange light should go off).
7. Open the printer and remove both cartridges. Wait for 10 seconds. Replace the cartridges and close printer. Wait for 30 seconds.
8. Press the power button, and wait until printer has shut down.
9. Press power button to power up. The printer will feed one piece of paper, then ask you to set the language.
10. The page counter is now reset.

    At #6 when I press the power button, printer powers off and I can't get to the cartridges to remove them.

    HOW Ridiculous. Why can anyone make a printer that just "works." Man's greatest accomplishment wont be world peace, the cure for cancer, or solving hunger but creating a printer that actually does what is claimed to do.

    i tried these steps and number step number 6 (Orange light never comes on) was never and option during the procedure. and i was never asked to enter the language. just keep getting the same U051 check ink error. any help please?

    I also have MX310 with same problem. I can get into service mode, but never get alarm light solid. When doing the press reset 3 time each time reset is pressed Alarm light goes out and then comes back blinking. Are there commands in service mode that can be used and how.

    It does not work for mw either. Step 5 does not get yellow light to turn steadily orange

I get to the Service Mode but then the orange light just keeps blinking 5 times in a row and never goes solid. I've tried pressing the Stop/Reset 3 times with 3 sec intervals, holding down for 5 secs, for 10 sec, and 20 sec, holding down for 3sec and then releasing for 3 sec (3 times....) and the orange light never changes from it's 5 blink cycle. Any ideas?

ERROR U051 MX320


Error code U051 indicates that print head temperature error. This usually happen when ink is almost empty. The solution is to replace the cartridge with new one.

Error Message: Check Ink U051

This message appears when the cartridge not installed, not properly installed, or non supported cartridge is installed.
As a result the printer cannot recognized the installed cartridge.

Remedial action:

* Reinstall the cartridge properly
* Ensure that you installed supported cartridge only
* Replace the cartridge

I just replaced the ink in my canon mx310,now its saying check ink u051


that is the error for unknown ink level. press the OK buton for at least 10 seconds and the error should be removed.

On my canon MX 310 printer I put in new Canon CL-41 Fine color cartridge and now the alarm light is lit and the screen says Check Ink U051 COL How can I correcty the problem?


You may need a new cartridge, that error says the ink cartridge is wrong or not installed properly. If it's a refilled cartridge it won't work, if it's a new canon cartridge, they warranty for 30 days from date of purchase.

The error usually came out after you refill ink on the black cartridge...there is no way you can make the printer work without resetting the ink cartridge..

Try to reset the printer using this procedure.. it will help.
1. turn off the printer..
2. press/hold the stop/reset button..and press/hold power button too..
3 while holding power button, release the stop/reset button..
4. then press the stop/reset button twice..
5. release power button..and wait until the power button lights a steady/still green and says "idle"...
6. open the cover...take out both catridges.. then turn off the printer.
7.put back the cover then turn on...
8. now put the catridges back.. and wait for some time to return to display menu... then try to print...

The printer may still prompt a "black ink volume unknown and color ink volume unknown" but don't worry that won't affect the operation of the printer. And you will able to use your printer, fax and scanner.

Do this every time you refill the ink of the cartridges.

There is no way to reset the ink levels on the new canon cartridges. you need to turn off the ink status monitor :(

You'll know it's time to refill again when your printing starts to fade, streak, or discolor.
