Rinnai 556 WT gas space heater flashing PF

most modern gas heaters use a code system to tell the operator what the problem is. look for a pattern in the flashing, and then compare that pattern to the literature on the inside of the heaters panel. When you have a diagnosis code, you can follow the appropriate course of action.

Filter light beeping n flashing on a rinnai 556 ftr

Tara, generally that means the filter needs to be removed and cleaned. However, the electric part of the unit must be turned OFF and unplugged, before the filter is removed for cleaning, The unit should remain that way, until the filter is replaced. Then plug the unit back in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and the unit will revert back to its original factory settings. From there, you can set it however you like.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

My Rinnai 606tr Silent Server continually shuts down and the number 12 appears on the display screen. What's up ?

I know that this is an old post but i had this same problem and i cant find a single answer to this problem anywhere on the net. Rinnai couldnt even give me an answer (let alone even call me back)

Well I figured it out. If you go onto Rinnai's website, you can download the manual, which has the codes and what they mean. Code 12 means Flame Failure. Still this didnt tell me enough. After taking the thing completely apart twice i finally figured out that the heater itself was perfectly fine.

The gas line was the problem. My gas line has a check valve on it right next to the heater. The check valve was not letting a consistent flow of gas to the heater because the heater was drawing too much gas at times, causing the check valve to start to close because it thought there was a leak (so to speak).

All i did was turn the gas valve behind the heater so that it was closed more (not letting as much gas flow through) so that it wouldnt trip the check valve. the heater now works fine and keeps a consistent temperature with no problems.

navigate to tradesmart, space heating, energysavers.
Red filter light means the filter is blocked.
its located directly on the back of the heater and the wall spacer, from the control panel, its about 4 inches back.
Pull it up, clean reinstall

Our heater seems to have therostat set low. We are cold.

not sure if this unit has any type of sensor to protect you from carbon monoxide but if it is ventless and operates on gas it may be tripping on sensor any ventless unit must be operated with fresh air for combustion
