This equipment was working fine. I bought it in June 2007. Today I used the timer while preparing Thanksgiving dinner. Now the display shows the cook time numbers I select and the default 100 level power correctly. When I push 'start' everything looks and sounds correct but no heat even though the cook time declines as it should. All functions seem ok but just no heat. Was trying to heat some milk to sip before bed. Drat!

Our GE over-the-range microwave stopped producing heat yesterday while warming part of the T-giving feast. Everything else (fan, control panel, light) works fine.
After disassembly and testing last night, I discovered a defective "secondary door switch." Your Kenmore uses a similar switch (~$19 on-line), and that might be the problem. But it also could be other things, such as a bad thermal cut-out.
If you know anyone who's handy with a multimeter, most of the basic diagnostics seem to be pretty straightforward.

Last night after returning from a vacation I tried to heat up some beans in my microwave. Just as the last person described everything worked but the beans never heated up. While listening to it run we didn't hear the magnetron kick in. This is the second product we have purchased from Sears that quit working after 18 months. I called Sears bus as you all know they refuse to fix or replace it under a warranty.
Had the timer on for cooking purposes, then my micowave would not heat anything.

Power 100 also appeared, I don't remember this coming on before.
This is exactly my problem. Was there ever a definitive solution?
I have a Sharp R879, microwave is fine, but oven does not heat up also light is on. What can I do? Thanks
