Try using a different set of headphones and if that doesnt work take it to technical support or somewhere where they fix them

Ipod touch 16gb(1st) home button not working. How to fix

On the iPod touch 1st Gen device, the home button is prone to failure due to the design, most can be fixed for a nominal fee, fixed mine, it was one of the hardest iPods to repair for its time, but with practice, is usually never an issue. Once it is open, then the removal of the battery and then the logic board removal requires experience. As far as the button is concerned, Usually, the "pop" disappears and it feels stuck in the down position, simple fix by introducing an iPod Touch 4th Gen device design upgrade (as far as button is concerned.)
This particular model, the iPod Touch 1st Gen, does not have a replaceable home button module design. It is part of the logic board and so it has to be repaired and not replaced. The small outer disc can be removed and recovered, clean or replaced with another comparable size disc, if the issue is with moisture exposure, corrosion. The sign for moisture exposure issues is that it still "pops" but no longer functions.
I have repaired these successfully and with no issues. www.zfixit.com 78c71099-06cd-4a93-9b81-39199bce2261.jpg

When i take out my headphones out of mu ipod touch it wont let me hear it without the headphones on

you have to hit play again after you unplug the headphones and turn the volume up using the buttons on the left side of the device, if you have no buttons on the left side then you have the 1st Gen iPod touch which you can only listen to with headphones.

IPod Touch 1st Gen Headphone Jack Replacement

The ipod touch HPJ is not too hard to repair. A good source for the part would be ebay. But There is a stepby step guide toothat explains how to repair the jack as opposed to replacing it : iPod touch repair. There are also third party iPod repair companies that do it for you.

Ipod touch 1st Gen turns off during restore. (Need Help!) Please?

You might want to try holding the top button and the home button until it turns on, then let go of the top button. Keep the home button held down until the "Plug Into iTunes" picture comes up. You should be able to normal restore now. If this doesn't work, just go get it repaired.

No sound from headphones

The only thing that I know when I have been presented with this problem in the past is that your headphone jack is shot. There is no way to fix this. You now have a portable hard drive and should invest in either a new ipod or other type of mp3 player.

Cannot play external speakers

Try firmly pressing the iPod into the dock connector. If it works, good. If it doesn't, then your iPod may not have support for the speakers.

Jack on headphones broke off in my iTouch

You might be able to get it looked at under warranty if it's less than a year old.
Otherwise, have a look at this:http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/First-Look/iPod/iPod-Touch You'll need some tools to do it, but they can be bought from the iFixIt site.
If it's jammed in there really badly you might need to replace the headphone jack itself, which may be part of the logic board. Could be a pretty expensive repair job if you choose to DIY. I'd definitely see if Apple will fix it either under warranty or for a fee. Much easier.
Anyway, iFixIt has all the parts for the iPod Touch here: http://www.ifixit.com/Products/Touch-1st-Gen/132
Good luck!

Ipod Nano 1st gen 4gb. Headphone jack signal in mono, not stereo.

most likely headphone jack is broken. option one is to take it to the apple store and have them repair it. option 2 is to go on e-bay and buy a replacement jack and try to do it yourself. best option is to sell it on ebay as broken/needs repair. Someone who knows how to fix them will buy it from you and you can use the money you get to buy a good used working iPod. There are always tons of nanos for sale on ebay.
