I took a gsm alarm from the uk to turkey it was open untill i put a turkish sim card in 7 days latter in blocked sim works in a phone but not in the alarm put my uk sim in same problem ok in phone but not in alarm it sent my phone a tex sayinh in turkish that i have up to 10 days befor thay lock it but that was in turkish you think if was that bad thay would send in more than one translation help
Sorry rocketman but your wrong on this one. If you are visiting Turkey you must register your IMEI number with the Telecom Commision. OH and it is a pain in the rear too. If you dont your phone will work for a week then be blacklisted from the network. Call you provider and find out how to register your IMEI. Only one IMEI per passport normaly and you can do so at your phone provider. It will take 3-4 days to get your IMEI on the while list. Your provider should have done this in the first place. Complain they didn't and also complain that you did not get the required by law
SMS warning you to do so. I asked for some credit from Vodafone TR and they have promised me credits on my account for the trouble but I am pushing for a refund in full.
Yes,you will need to have the phone unlocked for any service provider,It is the subsidy unlock that you need.
