My system could not be booted, pls. advise to restore the system

All you need is a cd with xpIf you boot with a cd there are recocvery options. If not you will have to install it again if the origional system is corrupt and not booting.

How do i reinstall the os on a dell vostro 200 after a crash

crash the O/S . First try to restore the system in DVD setup or after automatic repair finished, pls go to advance oiption and select System restore.
Also boot from windows dvd and run repair. if not fixed pls go to the Command mode in advance option and run chkdsk c: F and enter. after complete ,type chkdsk d: /F .all your partitions.

Select models, with Microsoft Windows, have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.
Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process.
Note: For video guided assistance using the eRecovery Management program to restore your computer please visit our How do I restore my computer using the eRecovery Management program? answer.

To start the system recovery:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
  3. Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
  4. Close the CD-ROM tray.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
  6. The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
  7. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.
    Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.
  8. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

I cleaned my emachine with a disk called drive scrubber and it wiped every thing out and my desktop wont come up

try starting the system in safe mode by hitting f8 when the system is starting up then run system restore once the system completes the booting process. The easiest way to get to the system restore is by typing "system restore" into the search bar of the start menu. Pls note that this is for windows. Hope this helps

Says windows root>\system32\hal.dll. is missing or corrupt, can't use laptop Please advise, regards Jason

some system on your windows has corrupted, it caused by a virus or bad disk
you need to restore your system to fix this issue
if your laptop build in windows xp and you have a restore disk just follow these steps
1. turn on your notebook
2.quickly press ctr and f11 simultaneously
3. click restore when "Dell PC restore" message appears confirm (it means you will lost all data in drive which contains your old operation system)
5.wait and click finish when the process of restore finish
if your laptop build in windows vista you can follow these steps
1. turn on your laptop
2. quickly press f8
3. when "Advance Boot Menu" message appears just click repair
4. select language and click next
5. log in and click ok
6. click dell factory restore and click next
7. click yes on the box "format hard drive and restore the system"
8. when the process finish click finish
if you don't have a restore disk build in your laptop you need a windows cd installer to reinstall your os

My sony vaio vgn160g/w won't start up. I mean it would power up but then freezes while loading personal settings. i have windows xp media center edition os. pls help!!! this laptop seems to be working fine...

Restart hit f8 as it is about to boot to windows choose safe mode allow it to boot.Do a system restore to a few days ago hopefully this should help.Start assesories system tools system restore.

Advent notebook not booting.

ahh..yess...that can happen...try it with the restore disc, and press F2 while booting up. This will take you to the settings and bios, where you can disable the hard drive, and make the cd the boot you know of this area in the computer?
