Question about Refrigerators

Beverage Air refrigerator not cooling well

I have a beverage air countertop refrigerator (glass merchandiser circa 1991) and it's not getting below 55 deg. Here are some symptoms... Thermostat is set on high and it does not cycle off it just runs and runs trying to get cold. There is a good seal around door. Condensor is on and hot, can touch it without getting burned. Condensor underneath looks like it had been refilled with refrigerant in the past, there is an extra port in the condensor. Condensor fan makes noise, imagine bearings bad in motor, still spins freely and fast, needs replaced but probably working for now. I took off cover from inside and felt the coil on inside, not super cold prob 55 deg. Is it likely the condensor is worn out or low on refrigerant? It is labeled for R12. Should I try and fix it? Seems like if its a leak it may be worth it, if its the condensor it will be too expensive. I can take it to a shop here but $80 to check it out. Thanks

Just a warning about r12 systems. There is no more r12 unless you have a recycled. If the shop has r12 or they might be able to use something else on it. But it does sound like a leak in the system.
Might not be worth a sealed system repair.

Water dripping on everything inside - seems to be collecting on outside of upper fan housing. Drain hose is not clogged.

You need to shut it off and get the ice to melt off the coil. With that accomplished, put a thermometer inside and don't put the temperature below 37 degrees f. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have a Beverage Air model MT 27. Coils have been cleaned and recharged with freon. Cooler will not cool below 50 degrees?

You'll need to check the back-pressure on the low-side of the system, you have a faulty compressor. If there is a condenser fan motor make sure it is running when the compressor is on.

My bev air mt12 runs but does not cool ...the compressor runs but the temp remains the same

AFTER PULLING THE COMPRESSER @ EVAPORATER TRAY THE SYSTEM BEGIN TO PULL DOWN THE TEMP IMMEDIATELY AFTER APPROXIAMETLY 40 MIN I HAD A DROP IN TEMP OF 22 DEGREES GOING FROM 80 TO 38 IT THEN BECAME EVIDENT THAT I HAD A PROBLEM WITH FREE AIR FLOW ACCROSS THE COMPRESSOR & EXITING THE BACK OF THE UNIT. THE UNIT SITS IN THE GARAGE WITH A 4 INCH CONCRETE CURB BLOCKING THE FREE FLOW OF AIR MOVEMENT . SO RELOCATING THE UNIT WAS THE SOLUTION..

Fan in cooling compartment

The fan inside the unit should run all the time, this insures a more constant temp throughout the compartment by keeping the air moving.
