Question about Kenmore Refrigerators

1 Answer

I need directions for icemaker hookup. There seems to be two separate tubes, so the water dispenser is working, but I can't see how the icemaker is connected to the water supply. I bought the fridge used and seems to be a 2004 model.

My lg refrigerator lsxs26326 is dispensing water but not filling ice tray up. What could be wrong?

the water solenoid valve for the water dispenser is separate from the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . get to the icemaker water supply solenoid and test it if it works alright . unplug the fridge from wall outlet do not close water supply valve. disconnect water tube connection on the water discharge side of the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . pull - out power supply connection of the solenoid coil . connect solenoid valve directly to wall outlet. a faint click should be audible and water should come out from where the tube was removed -- from the water supply discharge side. if no water is coming out with the solenoid plug in , then the solenoid is faulty. but if water comes while solenoid is powered -on , check the position of the icemaker lever. if it is on off position icemaker timer won't activate icemaker water supply valve..move icemaker lever to on and check for water pouring into the icemaker tray' if no water comes out . change the icemaker timer. thanks.

GE / Hotpoint S xS Refrig: Will not dispense water

Remove lower grill and disconnect the water line going through the freezer door hinge. Usually it is a push lock fitting, which requires you to push the ring on the end of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not hard) on the plastic tube. Now place a pan under the separated plastic hose and try the water dispenser. If water comes out, your problem is a frozen water line in the freezer door. A warmer freezer temp may help, or you can order and install a WR49X10173 water tube heater. (the heater may take 24 hours to thaw the line, but I have used it successfully several times. Cost about $50) If no water comes out the separated tube when you try to dispense water, reconnect the tube at the hinge by pushing the plastic line back into the fitting. Now, at the back of the refrig., disconnect the water line going from the water valve to the fresh foods compartment. Try to dispense water. No water at valve outlet = bad valve. Water dispensed from valve now = frozen water filter or water line at back bottom of fresh foods compartment. (make sure you disconnect the right tube. If in doubt, disconnect them both, just get them back correctly so your icemaker continues to work) Send me additional comments if needed. Don't rate before you try all the steps.

Water dispenser has ceased dispensing water.

Water tube is frozen inside the door. Bad design. I use boiling water, a small plastic flexible tube and appropriate plastic syringe to force very hot water into the tube pushing the small tube into the dispenser tube. At some point it will stop because of the Ice blockage, more hot water through the small tube will soon unblock the line. A retrofit "heater" was available at appliance parts stores. I installed one. It stopped working and I haven't bothered with another. The Ice supply line is separate from the water dispenser and Y's somewhere to get water into the hinge for the door access to the Water dispenser in the door. Hope this helps.

Jenn-air side-by-side water dispenser leak

Check the fill tube to your icemaker and see if it has ice in it or in the fill cup to the icemaker. Most of the time when this problem happens it is the icemaker spraying the water. It could also be a bad module on the icemaker which can get stuck in the fill position and spray water all over the freezer.

Replace selenoid and water is still not going to ice maker

Did you pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker and did it dump ? If you did pour water into the icemaker , and it did not dump the cubes , then the icemaker is bad . If it did dump , so you replaced the water valve , then the fill tube directly at the icemaker is frozen with ice . It will need to be removed ( fill tube at icemaker ) and the ice cleared out by hot water . On some models , behind the refrig , 2 screws hold the fill tube in place . Remove the tube , and clear the ice . When reinstalling , have someone guide it from inside the freezer , to where it mounts on the icemaker fill cup .

Icemaker not working, but water dispenser is

Water valve has separate coils for water to door and to icemaker. If icemaker is cycling the valve is likely the problem.

Water dispenser works sometimes

It sounds like you may need to try the water tube heater I mention in the "Tips and Tricks" post of mine, copied here:

Remove lower grill and disconnect the water line going through the freezer door hinge. Usually it is a push lock fitting, which requires you to push the ring on the end of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not hard) on the plastic tube. Now place a pan under the separated plastic hose and try the water dispenser. If water comes out, your problem is a frozen water line in the freezer door. A warmer freezer temp may help, or you can order and install a WR49X101073 water tube heater. (the heater may take 24 hours to thaw the line, but I have used it successfully several times. Cost about $50) If no water comes out the separated tube when you try to dispense water, reconnect the tube at the hinge by pushing the plastic line back into the fitting.
