Question about Symbol LS 4071 Handheld

2 Answers

I have the LS4071 scanner and I'm using it with Quickbooks for my retail store. When I scan an item the code scans perfectly in the "Item" window but it does not advance to the "Description" window. I have to hit "Enter" or move the curser to get it to complete. My other scanner would do this just fine so I know it's possible. Another problem is I can't just scan from one item to another seamlessly. I have to stop and either "Tab" over through all of the fields or press "Enter" to move through all of the fields until I get to the next line awaiting a new product to be scanned. I experimented with programming bar codes from the 4208 product guide with transmitting a keyboard keystroke and it worked to a point. I had it transmit the "Arrow Down" key which took it to the next line item immediately but it did not transmit the UPC code, it only moved the curser. So in a nutshell what I need to do is scan an item and have the "Arrow Down" key transmitted after it so I can scan from item to item without having to stop and use the keyboard. Sorry for the long explaination but any ideas??

If you only need the data followed by the down arrow scan the barcodes I have listed from the LS4208 PRG found at the link below: Begin New Rule Adobe page 230 of 360 Send All Data That Remains Adobe page 245 of 360 Send Down Arrow Adobe page 289 of 360 Save Rule Adobe page 230 of 360 In your problem description you also said you needed an enter to get to the item description. Is this still true or does the down arrow take care of that for you?http://support.symbol.com/support/search...

Symbol ls1902t-1000 scans extra characters when scanning a barcode

Download the quick start guide from support.symbol.com and reset to default by scanning the code from the PDF manual. This could either be a programmed ASCII prefix, or an error in the codes you are scanning. Have you seen the same problem with more than one scanner?

Metrologic ms9520 not scanning UPC's

Hello.

The issue is likely due to the programming (or the lack of) of the scan gun. It is entirely possible that the UPC bar code is not configured in your gun as a valid bar code.

You can remedy this by programming the scan gun to recognize the UPC bar code (and any other bar codes you may need to scan). Use the link below to download the programming guides for this scan gun.

Hope this helps!

Hi,
Follow these steps to scan using HP software:Step one: Load the item to be scanned
  1. Make sure that the product is connected to the computer.
  2. Turn on the product.
  3. Load the item in the document feeder tray or on the scanner glass
Tip

Load the following items in the document feeder tray :

  • Single items
  • Items that are not easily damaged
  • Multipage, single sided items that you want to scan into one file
Load the following items on the scanner glass :

  • Single items
  • Items that are easily damaged, such as old documents and photos
  • Multipage, double sided items that you want to scan into one file

  • Option one: Document feeder tray
    1. Place the item into the document feeder tray. The printed side faces up and the top edge goes into the tray first.
    2. Adjust the width guides to fit the item.
  • Option two: Scanner glass
    1. Open the scanner lid.
    2. Place the item with the print side down on the scanner glass. For the correct position, see the engraved guide near the corner of the glass.
    3. Close the scanner lid.
Step two: Scan the item Use one of the following methods to open the HP scan window:
  • Double-click the HP scan icon (c02436443.gif ) on the Windows desktop. note.png NOTE:If you have more than one HP product installed, double-click the HP scan icon (c02436443.gif ) for the product you are scanning with.
  • Click Start (c01827528.gif ), click All Programs , click the HP folder, click the name of your HP product, and then click HP Scan .

Click the scan option for the item you are scanning. note.png NOTE:Depending on your HP product, you might not have all the following scan options available. c02448891.gif

Save as PDF Use this setting to scan text documents that are not editable. Use the Save as Editable Text (OCR) option to scan text that you can edit. c02448892.gif

Save as JPEG Use this setting to scan pictures and images.
Hope this information will be helpful.

We are using a Metrologic MS9520 (keyboard wedge) with QuickBooks. It won't scan barcodes provided by Quickbooks, even though it's supposed to be compatible. We've downloaded about every driver, config,...

What I would first is to bring the barcode scanner back to factory defaults. To do this you will need the manual that came with the scanner, on the first page is a bar code that say "enter/exit configuration mode" scan that first and you will hear three beeps, then scan the bar code for "recall defaults" and rescan the bar code to "enter/exit configuration mode" then retry using your scanner, if this does not work bring up "notepad" on your computer and try to scan any bar code form any retail item. This should scan, if it does net then it could be a defective scanner. See page 2 on the manual link

Transfer info from the digital weight scaleto quickbooks

You would need to add an criteria or the rule, like barcode length or type. Than is the the scanner able to understand which barcode should be handled by the specific rule.

Check the scan with normal flat copy. If that scan is OK it is not the scanner.Have a rethink about how you are scanning If the the test scan comes up odd Come back with what software you are using to with thew scanner[Image editor etc.,] Do more tests before junking the scanner - that will be last move.
