Is there a specific hard drive you have to put into a HP DV4?

Any hard drive will work in the DV4, but I highly recommend going with a solid state drive...they run faster and are more reliable than a standard hard drive.

It does sound like there's a major problem with the Solid State Drive. When you boot the system, press F1 or F2 (or what is shown) to get into the setup. When in, do you see the drive in question showing on any of the screens?
You may need to open the system up and reseat the SSD.
If reseating it doesn't help, you may be eligible for a replacement SSD from it's manufacturer. Many Solid State devices have a lifetime warranty.

I hope this helps. Post a reply if it doesn't or if you need further help.

My hp mini 8g is all used up and I do not know why? I only use this to serve the net, no downloading etc... I tried to have the drive defragged but even that does not work? Any solutions?

If you have an HP mini like the 1010nr, you may have only an 8GB solid-state "drive" the solution is to: 1) plug in a usb drive to a side port for extra space; or, 2) BETTER - pull off the cover on the right side to access the hidden USB port and install a permanent large-capacity usb memory module, then replace the cover. This requires a small usb stick with little or no case (like this: -REMOVE THE OUTER CASE FIRST.

either your hard drive has been damaged or it has been disabled by the bios. Your netbook probably has a solid state hard drive. You need to get your information removed from the drive at this point and get the operating system of your choice installed. For further assistance, you can call us 24/7 at 800-595-3564.

HP mini 1000 with a blank screen

Mini PCs, aka Netbooks often use solid state memory, which breaks down after a time, and can become unusable, especially if you're not shutting down properly. It tends to last just fine, if you power up and down normally, but after, say, over a year of use, flashdrives and other solid state memory cores will corrupt or lose data. You may have to have the information on the disk recovered.
I checked and your Netbook comes with either an 8, 16, or 32 GB solid-state drive, or a hard-disc drive ranging from 60 to 160 GB. Hard discs can also be temperamental if they get banged around a lot. It's a hard decision, because solid state can handle abuse, but degrades, while the magnetic discs degrade slower, but can't handle too many bumps. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer, and see if they can find the problem. It may simply be a problem with windows. Your machine may run Windows XP or Mi, the latter of which is based on Linux.
DON'T take the battery out. Only take the battery out, if you're using the machine while plugged in, unless the battery needs charging. Leaving the battery in all the time can shorten the life of the battery. The machine needs to always have a power supply, especially for the solid state memory to not degrade.
My honest solution is to give it some time to start up: however long it needs, but if it takes more than an hour, it's not really an easily fixable solution, and will require manufacturer action, or replacement.

My mini dell inspiration laptop sends me an error

This error comes up if the computer is not able to detect the hard drive. Power off the computer. Power it back on and tap the number 2 key 4 - 5 times at the Dell logo screen. This will take you to the system setp screen. Check if you see any thing listed next to solid state drive. If you dont see any thing try reseating the hard drive. Here are the steps to reseat the hard drive.. If you see an entry next to the solid state drive. You'll need to reinstall windows on the computer. If you have been shipped XP you will need an external CD drive to reinstall windows. If the system was sen with ubantu try to download it to a usb drive and boot off it.
Rate if useful.
