Question about ASUS P5PE-VM Motherboard

1 Answer

No sound for p5pe-vm

I tried the ai suite from asus, it said it is not compatible with my hardware. Perhaps a patch so that my support cd would run with vista.

would vista install the support cd with a patch?

At device manager I right click multimedia audio controller. the one with a question mark. a dialog box appeared. I selected update driver. then vista ask me: how do you want to search for driver software? I choose browse my computer. Then vista gave me two options. I chose let me pick from a list of device drivers from my computer. A dropdown appeared with a list. I browse through the dropdown. The first time I chose intel because the chipset is from intel. On the right column I chose intel (r) ac '97. It did not work.

I tried to run my support cd. Again, vista said something like compatibility issue.

Then from the drop down soundmax integrated digital audio appeared, i highligted it and click next then just follow the prompt.

Then vista install the driver. Now my computer has sound.

The solution was right under my nose.

My problem is my VGA card is not working on window 7 & for ASUS P5PE-VM. Can you give me a link for this VGA download or solutions

Ron, I found this posted somewhere:

Users running ASUS P5PE-VM on Windows 7 having difficulty looking for compatible drivers, especially on graphic card and onboard sound card. The graphic card is old NVIDIA GForce 3 TI (AGP) and the sound on-board is SoundMax which is listed as SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio (TCSUS_CH5) F5410AMR. The driver which comes with the motherboard will not install the sound drivers because it doesn't recognize the OS even though it listed the sound card but only Realtek and analog devices.Trying to resolve this problem using Compatibility mode doesn't do the trick as there is no Vista compatible for GF3 driver. Windows 7 apparently won't recognize GF2 series and older ones. You will have to upgrade the video card. Try using Windows Update. If it doesn't find the driver online, then it means the driver is not supported by Win7. No luck for NForce 3 motherboards either, or NF 1/2 motherboards. Another workaround you can try is by installing NVIDIA's legacy driver 66.93 which was reported doing good on GeForce 3 TI 200. You will have to disable all directX hardware acceleration, but OpenGL works. It looks like upgrading is the last resort you can try after you try all above solution.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Multimedia audio controller driver will not install It loads the realtek driver then restarts the pc

You're P5PE-VM motherboard does use Realtek AC'97 driver. (ADI AD1888JCPZ). Preform a clean install. Download, install and run the free program ccleaner. Once installed click on the registry icon within ccleaner and run it.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Than restart you're system and enter the bios. Make sure AC'97 is to [Auto] See page 2-20 in you're manual.
Save and exit the bios. Use the Asus CD and install the sound drivers. Or download the latest drivers from Asus; http://www.asus.com/Search.aspx?SearchKey=P5PE-VM

Good luck!
Any questions?

HI....

Go to http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us and from there search for your motherboard. I have just installed the same motherboard(second hand) in my computer and didn't have a cd. I checked on the site and found everything I needed there.

P5PE-VM asus board audio driver

Hello there.

Please click here to download the drivers for your audio chipset. You may note that Vista is not listed but the driver version for Windows XP works in Vista, there was a problem with the installer cd on Vista but apparently manually running the installer for the audio card, from the cd works fine. Click here to see what other users of the same motherboard said.

Hope this helps.
