I need to look up the make and model of a chipper by the serial number located on the tongue of the frame.

Click on the picture of your model and you are given the option of downloading the manual. You need the serial number of your machine to do this.

You can visit the Craftsman website to get this info. You will need your Model Number and Serial number to download an owners manual. The manual should show you where the battery is.

Normally a silver tag up in front left corner, stuck on side . If worn off, you may be able to look real close on tongue for numbers as well, as on some models they were stamped into frame. Look inside all your cupboards, closets etc, just in case too.

Go on line to " PartsTree.com" Start your search by clicking on MTD. Go to chipper/shredders, and fine your Model number, It's listed. In the search window- type in chipper blade. Also, on the drawing schematic of the machine, the blades are # 31 in the list of parts. I looked up the 2005 model. There are are few years with the same Model #.

If you have not done this go to sears parts direct. If I am not mistaken you model number should start with 917. Hope this will help.
