Question about Insignia NS-DV2G MP3 Player

1 Answer

My computer can't find my insignia ns-dv4g mp3 player. I plug in the usb cord and the computer plays the 3-ding error sound. My mp3 finds my pc and starts to charge. My friend has the same mp3 and my computer is able to find it. I plug my mp3 player into my friend's laptop and her laptop is able to find my mp3. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled my mp3's program on my computer but it still doesn't work.

First plug in the Insignia NS-DV4G. Go to device manager. Something should say unknow device either under usb devices at the bottom or portable devices. Right click it and click update driver. click browse my computer. click let me choose from device drivers on my computer. uncheck show compatible software. scroll down to compatible usb storage device in the left column. double click usb mass storage device. then click yes. it should say it cant start. click close. then right click the usb mass storage device and disable. double click and click enable. disable and enable again. open computer. you should not see it. close it and wait for auto play.

Remove the battery to force the unit to power off. Reinstall a fresh battery and reset the unit by inserting a thin tool (e.g. an unbent paper clip) into the reset port. A schematic can be found in the owner's manual. If these steps don't resolve the problem, you may return to the place of purchase to pursue service options.

To make it work you have to change it to MSC mode (Only for Windows XP and 2K, it somewhat technical so do it at your own pace and follow instruction:
  • Click on the Start button and Select Settings. Then click on Control Panel.
  • Double click System, and then select the Hardware tab.
  • Click on Device manager.
  • Click on the '+' for Portable device and you will see "Insignia Video Player".
  • Right click and select "Update driver".
  • A Hardware Update Window will open, Select "No, not this time" when windows asks to search for software. Click next. Check the "Install from a list or specific location" checkbox and then click next.
  • On the next screen select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install".
  • Click next and then you will see a window showing two drivers that are compatible with your player.
  • To put the device into MSC mode select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click next.
  • A finish installing driver will appear and your device will now appear as a hard drive on your system.
  • To switch back to MTP mode, open the device manager as above and click on the "+" for "Universal Serial bus controllers" and you will see "Insignia Video Player".
  • Then follow the steps above until you reach the "Select the device driver..." screen in which you select "MTP device".
  • Then click next and your device will be reset back into MTP mode.

I have a similar problem. It seems the only way to do this is use the Best Buy supplied program. Is anyone willing to release the playlist format so a converter can be created?
