Lid will not unlock. If pressed the start button, held the start button, unplugged and replugged the power cord, still will not unlock. This is a newer machine. Any ideas?

unplugging from the wall should have released the lid switch

if the cycle has finished and clicked off

i would say a faulty safety catch on the lid

is the machine under warranty

Lint catcher doesn't...

the fan is blocked up with lint so isnt providing enought travel of air

Check the door catch is secure and that the machine is not over loaded, it may be the catch is faulty or the programmer may be at fault . Whatever the reason unless you are a qualified engineer washing machines are notorious for delivering fatal electric shocks to people because of bad maintenance seek the help of your local repairman who is probably very familiar with this fault on this type of machine .

I have an AEG lavamat 50600which takes ages to start and think this is because the door catch isnt engaging properly how do i rectify this ?

This is due to the fact that the door switch is faulty and the lock does not switch the circuit. You can use some switch cleaners to improve the contact, if not the door switch must be replaced.
