The battery is float it either needs a good 5 hours recharge on AC charger or a total replacement.

If the batter is good then the other possibility is that the maps are corrupted. As you have had it less than 12 months i suggest treturning it for a warranty check repair

My navigon 2100 doesnt work after the update. help

I own a navigon 2100 as well. Very nice device and you can install the 5100 software and the 7100 maps and points of interest. gpspassions.com is the best resource for 2100 help.

Try this:
Hard Reset Procedure - if the PNA is on, press the Power button until the unit goes off. Press again and hold the button down - the screen will come on and after a few seconds go off again. Press the Power button again and the screen will come back. If you get the opening "music", you know the Hard reset was successful.

If you leave the memory card out and keep the unit powered on, you will after a few 10's of seconds go into the Demo mode. When you reinsert the SD card a soft reset will occur (equivalent to pressing the recessed button on the left hand side) and the unit will initialize into whatever the SD card tells it to (see below).

Screen has frozen, can't turn it off or move anything, just not working.

There are a few things you can try to resolve this:
  1. Hold down the power button for up to 15 seconds to reset the unit.
  2. If that doesn't work, you'll want to try changing the power connection to the unit. If you don't have it plugged in to the cradle or the usb cable, plug it in. If it is plugged in, try unplugging it.
In the event it stays frozen, eventually the battery will drain. When the screen goes blank, you can then plug the unit in and recharge it. Let it charge for at least 30 minutes and then try to power on the unit.

Locks up after a few seconds/have to kill power to reset

This may help. Mine has the GPS antenna build into the bracket at the back. I removed the bracket and the unit did not go into the error screen and the sounder worked fine. The GPS would not locate but it has not antenna attached so DOH!! I have orderd a new antenna with the BNC connector and will post if that fixes the problem. At this point I'm guessing its a blow GPS antenna.

Try a hard reset on the device. Pull the battery out whle the device is on. Then put back in.

If that doesn;t work, try reloading the OS.

GPSMAP 235 Sounder

Some 235s had a problem with the contrast setting. When the contrast is set to full the screen turns black.

When you turn on the GPS and the screen goes black, try tapping the left arrow on the track pad a few times. You should see the screen start to lighten. If that doesn't work, tap the power key and try tapping the left arrow a few times.
