Although the carousel is usually driven by a small motor that's unrelated to the heating function of the microwave, the microwave cabinet needs to be opened to repair it. So we recommend that you seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician. Inspect the plastic drive coupling that the tray sits on, as well as the ring-and-roller assembly, to make sure that they're working properly.

How do I remove the white plastic turntable plate that moves the wheeled legs of the turntable??

inside the cabinet, there is (usually) a belt that turns that gear, you will have to unplug the unit and take off the cover to get at it, probably has some grit in the belt or such, also look for missing teeth

I have a GE Spacesaver PVM1870 microwave - the turntable has suddenly stopped turning. I've tried the "Turntable On/Off" button, but it did not help. What else can I try?

Perhaps the turntable motor has failed. Replace it as soon as possible as if you don't the food will not cook properly.

Replacing the turntable motor.

The motor assembly is fixed to the base of the oven usually with two screws and access i obtained by removing the inspection plate directly beneath the motor. It is usally a plug in synchronus motor that revolves at a few revs per minute but the plastic cogs in the motors gear box fail and the motor assembly must be replaced. They are fairly inexpensive and obtainable usually from a domestic appliance repair shop.
If you feel confident, disconnect it from the mains power, remove anything in the cavity and turn it upside down if it is a tabletop model, a little more complicated if it is built in!
Remove the inspection plate and disconnect the motor. Remove the motor and go and get a new one. Re fit it and put the microwave back in its position. Plug it back in, with the turntable and plate. Put a cup of water on the plate inside of the oven and heat for 20 seconds to check the plate goes round.
Hope this helps.

GE microwave oven squeals as carousel is rotating. Noise stops in a minute or so but begins anew when the unit is used again.

If it is the wheel on the turntable that squeels, wash the turntable in strong solution of washing up liquid and water.
If it does it without a turntable fitted, change the turntable motor.

Turntable has stopped turning

Remove the turntable plate from the oven. Put a cup of water inside the oven, away from the turntable drive gear. Turn the oven on and look through the door to see if the drive gear is turning. If not, then the motor is probably defective and needs to be replaced.

Revolving plate no longer rotates . All else works, it continu;es to cook, but we need to move the items of food from time to time

Remove the plate, and check if the square shaped gear that normally spins the turntable is rotating.

If it is rotating, then replace the turntable gear.

If it is not rotating that means that the motor that spins the microwave turntable does not rotate, and must be replaced.
