Craftsman GDO 1/2 HP - Remotes not working after storm

After a lightening storm, my GDO would not open. I'm assuming the lightening did something??? The GDO light worked so I know it was getting power, but neither the remotes nor the button on the console would open the door. I flipped the fuse and got the console to work but still can't get the remotes to work. I have gone through the steps to reset by pushing the SRT/learn button and then attempted to reset the remotes. I pushed and held the remote button then pressed the SRT button and released. The lights flashed as I was told they would but the remotes still will not open the door. The console lock indicator flashes when I try to use the remote. But I do see the light next to the learn button flash when I push the remote as if it's getting signal but the door won't open. What else could be wrong? I really think I'm reseting them correctly.

After a lightening storm the light on my Craftsman garage door opener work. I changed the bulb but that's not the problem Thinking it may be the fuse, but where is it?

I'm guessing that some of the electronics got fried by a voltage surge.
If you can find your model number you can probably get a replacement board at sears parts direct,

I would pull the logic board and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit. Garage door openers hate electrical storms. I really doubt it got to your start capacitor.

1/2 HP Craftsman Garage Door Opener works but lights don't

I think you are saying that normal incandescent bulbs do not work. If that is correct you should unplug the unit and using a small screwdriver reach into the socket and pull out slightly on the center contact.

Craftsman GDO - Remotes not working

I think this is an easier way to program. Press and hold the button on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit. Do this for each remote you have.

Only 1 remote will work at a time

One of your remotes has reverted to an earlier technology and they will no longer work with each other. You need to purchase a new remote making sure you get the same model number. Then you will find you can program 2 that will work with each other and 1 that will not. Remove the battery from the bad remote and toss it so that it doesn't cause problems down the road.

My garage door opener stoped working after a storm.

TRY TO REPROGRAM THE REMOTES TO THE OPENER - THESE UNITS CAN LOSE THE MEMORY DURING STORMS.

I WOULD SUGGEST ADDING A SURGE PROTECTOR AT THE PLUG IN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR UNIT IN THE FUTURE.

SEARS/CRAFTSMAN 53628SRT Not Closing properly

sounds like the safety door sensors are at fault, also did you reprogram the remotes by pressing the smart button on the logic board, when the safety sensors are bad the door will reverse to open state.you can pully the rip cord to manualy close the door untill you solve the problem.
