Question about Karcher K2.26 Electric Power Washer

1 Answer

I have a Karachr 3.91M pressure Washer that cycles on and off

The washer motor cycles on and off when the switch is not activated. The solution to the problem was identified several times however I am unable to identify what specific sub-assembly contains the SPILL VALVE. Could someone provide me with more details?

Dear frank_perra,
The spill valve is nearly always found near or under the micro-switch. If the 3.91M has its head in 2 parts....then the spill valve is incorporated with the top part of the head. In general,...machines that have the head in 2 plastic parts...the top part has the spill valve and the bottom part has the valves. Such machines it is not advisable to service the spill-valve. In these cases the whole top part is changed. This top part often contains the inlet-valve for the chemical. Care must be taken because this Chemical valve must be used again. Infact under this chemical valve you find the spill-valve unit. Then, as I said under the spill-valve unit you find the electrical micro switch. There are various other parts which are reusable when changing the upper head unit.
In other models you can change only the spill valve and not the whole head. As a rule....you always find the spill-valve where it is activating the micro switch, which stops the machine when the gun is closed. A faulty spill-valve will also result in low-pressure.
Regards,
Fulltech.

Pressure washer will not shut off when water trigger on wand is released

Sharon, you first should make sure you have no connection/leaks any where. There is a pressure switch inside the pump, which controls when the motor turns on and off. Leaks in pressure causes the pressure switch to activate the motor. Leaks are the biggest contributor to a cycling machine. If no leaks, the pressure switch is defective. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Kenmore 800 modle washer does not fill or agitate

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the dry spin with the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water from the clothes during the spin.

hi - If I remember correctly this particular series had a time related sequence built into the programme, whats happening is the timer has picked up the false readings when the pressure activates the switch.

Suggestions to look into - leave power off & turn water back on - does water run into the machine (faulty valve); turn power on initiate a cycle water runs, then turn power off - is water still running? (faulty valve)

From experiences on the field, theres a slim chance that the pressure tube has a hole in it from the vibrations over time. This effect will not create enough pressure in the tube to activate the pressure switch, the only other problem would be the pressure switch itself.

The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.

If your motor does not run after the washer fills, then your failure is in the water level pressure switch, the timer, the drive motor or the wiring harness. The pressure switch would be the first component that I recommend checking. With the washer filled to satisfy the pressure switch, you can disconnect electrical power and pull the tan and violet wires off of the pressure switch. With a volt/ohm meter, measure the resistance across the leads of the pressure switch where the tan and violet wires were connected. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance with the washer full of water. If not, then your pressure switch would need to be replaced.

The water valves didn't shut off. the washer over flowed. when i changed the cycle the vaslves shut off and the pump empties the washer. when i start a fill cycle, the washer over flows

Check for a faulty water level switch. It's a diaphragm-like device with a small plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level increases, so does the pressure on the air in the tube and when it reaches a certain level, it activates the switch to shut off the water and signals the timer to start the appropriate cycle. Check for any obstructions in or damage to the plastic tube. The switch can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity means a bad switch. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.
